Hello ! Smile

Not enough of Origin problem ? Very Happy
I got plenty here just for you !

First of all let me say that I am investigating on this issue for 3 days now.
I read topics all over the internet about this issue and tried about dozens of solutions.

Here is my spec :
- Windows 7
- Avast anti-virus
- Windows Defender
- French (if it may matter)

The torrent I'm using is a fully updated with all DLC already cra**** release, downloaded on a serious french torrent website for which many people are saying it work, but for a lot of people (including me) I'm still struggling with this Origin problem.

Here are all the solutions I tried until now :
- Windows Defender disabled
- Avast exclusions added
- Avast disabled
- Avast uninstalled
- Windows Firewall exclusions added
- Windows Firewall disabled
- Directory switch (from "C:\Games" to "C:\Program Files (x86)" to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts")
- With Origin (in its original directory, in the same parent directory than the game, online and offline mode)
- Origin uninstalled
- Manually deleted all Origin files ("C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin", "C:\Users\...\AppData\Local\Origin" and "C:\Users\...\AppData\Roaming\Origin"
- CCleaner used
- Ultimate fix downloaded (both complete and update_only versions) and applied on my release

For most of those solutions I re-installed the game completly, and I re-applied the cra** (even if it's already cra****) from the RAR archive.

I read this very useful tutorial, and did every single thing in it :
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t18501-unable-to-start-initialization-error-at-startup-updated-on-11-9-2015#

I run out of imagination and don't know what to try now.

Any idea ? Smile

Thank you for your help !

I tried something new today.

I downloaded Games4theworld torrent to give it a try.

I downloaded (sorry the forum prevents me from posting links) :

- The Sims 4 here :
https: // games4theworld.org/downloads.html

- The Sims 4 - Spa Day & Cool Kitchen Stuff plus All DLCs here :
https: // kat.cr/the-sims-4-spa-day-cool-kitchen-stuff-plus-all-dlcs-games4theworld-reloaded-version-t11142632.html

- The Ultimate Fix here :
http: // games4theworld.forumotion.com/t18086-the-sims-4-ultimate-fix#

Before downloading, I disabled Windows Defender, Windows Firewall and Avast and let them disabled until trying to play.

According to the torrent the Ultimate Fix should not be necessary.
I tested before applying the fix : Origin error
And after applying the Ultimate Fix : Origin error

Game installed first in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts"

Moved in "C:\Games" and even to "C:\"

Doesn't help.

Still Origin error.

Seeking help ! :'(

Hi, Red!

Sorry to hear you are facing this issue. It is a fact that some users really can't seem to work it out no matter what they do, and I really don't know why, honestly.

You say you got your game from a French torrent site. Maybe that could be the reason? We got ours from the RELOADED group (we do not make the fix, we just show how to use it for "educational" purposes). If you got any part, like the base game or any expansion or stuff pack from another coder, that may be the reason for your game to not work, meaning you'd have to download it "all over again", sorry (and, still, you it never guarantees you it will work, not even the original game is 100% sure to work, as they may have blacklisted your IP, as some people have related, and you might need to use a VPN/proxy to access the internet, restart the computer and try again, or have to contact EA if you buy the game, of course).

In case you want to re-download everything, my video below has links that I personally tested (in the video) and worked for me back in the day I tried the game.

Please, let's know if you tried downloading it again, or if you tried a VPN/Proxy service (there are many free services around you can google around), or if you'd like more ideas...

Ok, I saw you just posted, sorry. Glad you downloaded and tried, one less thing to try. Well, you were supposed to have the game at "C:\Program Files (x86)\The Sims 4" (if your system is 64 bit) or "C:\Program Files\The Sims 4" (if your system is 32 bit) or whatever program files you have in your system, since it may be in french "C:\Programmes (x86)\The Sims 4" or "C:\Programmes\The Sims 4" (you got the idea, right?)...

I am not sure how "hard coded" the installers are, so I don't know if it will default to the English default folder or to the windows default program folder, meaning you'd better check both, and the files should be all together, or you may have a little "mess", with files split into separate files and the game might not be able to run because of that.

That's one of the reasons I like to run my computer in American English (Canadian, since I use metric system), even though English is not my mother tongue, so I don't face issues like that, besides others with Access Databases, Excel Spreadsheets, Outlook Rules, Macros and so on... Sad

Please, let's know what happens, so we can assist you further. I wish you all the luck with the bug hunt!

Thank you Sim Architect for your kind help Smile

I tried moving the directory around but it does not change anything.

For the moment my game is still in english in the registry so it should not be different than your version.

You talked about using a vpn/proxy.
I took a look on the internet and it talks about browsing the web, and for instance the setup is done in the browser.

How do you force an application (for instance The Sims 4) to use a proxy ? Because everything seems to be about browsers WhatDidUJustCallMe?

Hi again! There are some VPN/Proxy programs that will work as virtual Ethernet adapters (I think that VPN work like that, not sure proxies do, but you can get them for free too and they are better anyway), meaning that your entire network access should pass through that (that would mess with your local network while you're using the VPN, sorry about that, but you can turn it off later on). Not sure it can help you, but you can always give it a try.

Anyway, the fact your game is running in English does not mean that it is necessarily in the "Program Files" and not in the "Programmes" or "any other" folder for that matter (you mentioned "Games" etc). If I were you, I'd double check for any traces of the game left around your drive and put them all together properly.

I never thought of it, but now it is ringing me a bell that most users that complain about the origin error without being able to fix it are users of windows in other languages than English, meaning it can be a folder issue (@Admin and @Carlos, have you noticed this fact?).

About the language, there's a topic on the tips and tricks at this forum that teaches how you can change the language to french if you'd like later, it's simple and effective (HERE).

Please, keep us posted!

Hi again,

I tried the proxy solution : Origin error persists.

I also tried moving the directory to some dozen of new locations. Whatever, still Origin error.

At last, I changed the language to french in the registry and also in the directory name, but still, Origin error.

PS : if it may be relevant, when the game is in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4", the game starts immediately. It still crashes with Origin error but starts immediately.

When it is in any other directory, even if I change like one letter to this one (like Electronic Arts), the game takes a few seconds to start, before crashing.

Hi! Please, try the magnet link below, which contains the RldOrigin.dll file only (the cracked dll), but only after you have disabled all your anti viruses (or excluded your torrent folders from real time protection). Just copy the text below to your browser address field, so it will open your torrent client (I don't know why utorrent won't open it directly).

Code:
magnet:?xt=urn:btih:26D9AAC7CD64C3BEA41C37036A8415FEE684B5C5&dn=rldorigin+dll&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Ftracker.openbittorrent.com%3A80%2Fannounce&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Fglotorrents.pw%3A6969%2Fannounce

Please, let me know what happens after you try it (oh, and do NOT run the game inside Electronic Arts folder, since it's 99% sure it will NOT work there, better have it at "C:\Program Files (x86)\The Sims 4", since it's the default directory we use for our "free testing" copies).

Oh, you're supposed to apply it to your Game/Bin folder, of course Wink

Sorry to hear that!

Please, try removing your "The Sims 4" folder inside your "Documents" and run the game once more.

If it does not work. Remove that folder again, uninstall the game and all expansions.

Then, install the base game and Get to work only, and wait until further development, because there's not much to be done (unless formatting the computer etc, which can't work as well Sad).

Just in case, you can watch my video about Get to Work (it's outdated, but will do the trick, nobody complained about Get to Work not "working" as far I remember Wink ):

I removed this directory each time I reinstall, this does not seem to help WhatDidUJustCallMe?

Okay here is what I did now :

- Uninstalled everything and removed all directories

- Disable all protections (Windows Defender, Firewall, Avast)

- Install The Sims 4 base game (games4theworld torrent)

- Try to launch : error (I don't remember which one, but it was not Origin)

- Install The Sims 4 - Get to Work (games4theworld torrent)

- Try to launch : Origin error

- Apply Ultimate Fix (update only) : Origin Error

For each launch try I also tried to move the directory around, without success.

This is a nightmare Sad

The error was "Initialization error at start up".

Taking a glance around, it seems to be Origin as well.

Welcome to the forum,

I can imagine that it is a nightmare, however, keep in mind that EA have done a very good job to make the game as hard to crack as possible. And the currently circulating cracks from RELOADED...well, they are good, but they are very susceptible to security software of any kind.

The fact that you turned off Windows Defender & avast and it still doesn't work could be an indicator that there is some hidden security software on your computer. One common example that I saw was Lavasoft's "Web Companion". These are basically downsized anti-virus programs that often come along as an "extra" if you install other software. Should you have such a little program, please try uninstalling it.

If it doesn't help, please take it as it is, because there isn't much more we can suggest. I know it's hard, but times are changing. This is not like Sims 3 or Sims 2; games which were unproblematic.

As a last resort, you could try re-installing Windows 7 too, and then doing without any anti-virus software. But that's up to you. Good luck !

What he said. and also there's the windows smartscreen (I forgot about it, it's really hard to disable that one if you don't remember of it and look into it and, once you disable it, windows will keep yelling and screaming at you everyday until you disable notifications Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy )

If you have a powerful enough machine (something with 8 GB of RAM or more, 1 GB of video RAM or more and probably 2 years or newer), you could try installing VMWare and installing Windows 10 Core x64 without any network component in it (look for the latest possible build iso), then disable the anti virus, the smart screen, and try having some fun if you're up to the task and like the idea.

Otherwise, just wait a bit longer for a new release that will come up, eventually. I have a feeling that the RELOADED group is probably not feeling the game is worth their effort on cracking up as often considering the features etc.

If I had a better machine, I could try taking a look out of curiosity, but honestly, I am happy enough when I can play a 45 minutes TV show episode on 720p without it crashing in the middle Sad

I made peace with it, though. I am really happy with MineCraft, @Admin made a fantastic work with the server and even minecarts are fun to play with a slow machine like mine. Maybe you should join us there and wait for Get Together or go back ahead to The Sims 3 with it's old new open world concept and no intermezzo screens, yay!!!

Hi Sim Architect, Carlos,

Thank you both for your answers.

Honestly this is so confusing. I'm a computer science engineer and I can't figure out what's wrong with it.

Most confusing is that I can't play any version of the game anymore, even the base one ! But I played the base game once and even played Get to Work extention in the past !

I don't think it comes from any anti-virus program because the crack seems untouched (modification date and file size remain the same).

In addition, when I manually ask for a file check, it DOES find a "virus" in it and wants to remove it, which makes me think that it was not altered before.

In my opinion there is either an IP control system which prevents me to play, or simply a file stored somewhere on my computer which tells the game that I have a cracked version.

In both case this is clearly the crack's job to avoid those protections, but as you say we have to be thanksful at least to have one, even if it's a bad one.

I will try to use my cellphone internet connection to avoid IP control to give it a last try.
If it does not work, I may consider formatting my PC, as it seems to be the last option WhatDidUJustCallMe?

Such a shame the game is so expensive because I would be ready to buy it, but come on, 200€ for an unfinished game ? Just no...

Here is the very simple trick for anyone who has an iPhone with internet :

  1. Disconnect PC network wire
  2. Make sure you lost your connection
  3. On your iPhone, disable WiFi
  4. Connect your iPhone to your PC with USB
  5. On your iPhone, go to Settings => Share connection => Activate (don't activate before plugging in USB)
  6. Your PC should automatically find the connection
  7. Make sure you recover internet
  8. Reproduce each time you wanna play

I hope this will help some guys in the future Smile

That sounds interesting. Have you also tried with just de-activating/disconnecting the internet on your computer, and without connecting the cellphone ?

And if that cellphone fix works, it would be interesting to see now if using a VPN/proxy worked too. Moreover, it would also be worth trying if blocking the TS4.exe in the Windows firewall could also yield the same effect. I suggested in my lengthy guide that it may be better to allow the TS4.exe through the firewall, but if these problems are indeed becoming common, this must be re-considered...

Luckily I can play with my internet on, and even stranger, I have Origin installed, and play somewhat regularly with Origin-games. Now one would assume that it's Origin that is causing these problems, but that doesn't seem to be the case. In fact, so far there are maybe 2-3 cases (including yours) that indicate this issue of "something else" blocking the crack of TS4. These cases seem to be rare though. For now.

I do know that there is 3rd party (process-monitoring) software that could "maybe" help detect irregularities or apps/processes related to this crack-blocking, but I have not looked into that possibility yet.

Indeed, sometimes I did suggest to people to re-format their hard-drives or re-install Windows, and that usually did the trick too.

Thanks for sharing that cellphone fix though ! I may move this to the other thread here. Very Happy

You can turn that "smartscreen" off, as early as installing Windows 10. Like I did. Carlos is tha man

Btw, in my experience, users with operating systems in American English also had these issues with "Origin must be running", so I don't think this could be a possibility at the moment.

About the language, @Carlos is right that many people with American English systems and games are facing the problem, but more non English users seem to be, statistically, facing it, from what I "feel" (I did not count it, sorry, but I see lots of posts related to the problem starting with "sorry for my bad English" or from users with different countries than English Speaking ones, it's just a hunch, of course).

Anyway, great work, guys!!!

Now we have info on a "new" way around that actually works, yay!!!

As a sidenote, I did not intend to have this topic closed (yet), as I actually wanted to wait for more feedback from the OP, but alright. I guess the thread can stay closed, as the OP probably doesn't have much to add anyway here. Smile

But as good as this solution is for the OP, I still find it strange. If I were a programmer at EA (or elsewhere), wouldn't I make it much harder to circumvent this issue, than just by using a different IP ? For example, wouldn't I try and make some file sneak into the people's systems, that makes it impossible to run the cracked game ? And make the file as hard as possible to detect ?

That's how I would do it. And most people would only be able to "fix" that by re-installing Windows. Unless they can determine which file(s) exactly cause the problem.

Just reopened the topic, no problem, @Carlos! Smile

Well, I am not sure the idea is to block people from pirating using free copies, but just make it harder...

If they really wanted to block it, they would have done it already, since 99% of people who use pirate free copies don't have advanced computer skills, but still end up being able to use by following simple rules and cracked files...

And, truth be told, just saving a hidden file to block a machine would be something we could detect as well by testing, then we could countermeasure it somehow by emulating the behavior of the legal copy, or we could disassemble the code of the game and see the point where it makes that, "track and trace" and change some ifs to go tos Wink

Honestly, I was curious on doing that, but my machine is too bad for it, sorry. I will consider trying some experiences (even if I am a total fail), once I get a better computer, probably next year after February. Smile Smile

Meanwhile, let's keep wondering and trying to catch what we can Wink

Nice points ! But the next thing is, I can run the game perfectly fine with the internet disconnected, so that could be another indicator that there is still more behind this...
