Struggling with Origin error
Hi there,
In the past I have always been able to install games from you guys without any problems. However, I am struggling with installing the Sims 4, Get Together and Get To Work correctly.
I have installed these three exactly as described in the guide and installed the ultimate fix. When I want to play the Sims it keeps telling me to run Origin, or something like that. I haven't installed Origin.
I removed the antivirus and made the exceptions in Windows Defender as you mentioned in the installation guides. I even shut down Windows Defender, but it doesn't work anyway.
Could you help me with this?
Thank you,
Giulia

Hello and welcome to the forum Giulia,
I'm really sorry to hear about these issues you are facing. Did you also move the installation folder OUT from Electronic Arts, and for example directly under C:\Program files (x86) ? That is a step that many people overlook. But other than this, and the rest of the 'known' fixes, I'm afraid I can't help more here.
As I said earlier, and on multiple occasions, EA have definitely learned from the past, and did an arguably good job in making the game as hard to pirate as possible, I'm sorry I can't provide better prospects here. In my opinion, it's not very likely that we will be able to come up with different fixes too, but of course we will see what the future holds.
The game is 'nasty' and very hard to run, I have to admit that. We're seeing changing times I guess: up until a few years ago, games were easy to pirate, but now the games are becoming more complex and hence more difficult to crack too.

Thanks for your quick reply!
And yes, I did move the folder out of the EA one. Have you got any idea why it doesn't work for me but it does work for some others? Is it because I still use Vista, or something like that?
Until then you can find me crying in a corner .
Thanks anyway though!

Sorry for the late reply Giulia,
That's a very good question, but I'm afraid I cannot give an answer to that. What I can tell you is that anti-virus issues often seem to play a role. But in some cases, there are other reasons, such as registry entries, or even little spyware that prevents the game from running.
EA have done a good job in making this game very difficult to use. Windows Vista needs the Service Pack 2 (SP2) to run the game, so make sure that you have all available Windows updates downloaded and installed.
Other than that, I'm unsure what else can be done at the moment, I'm sorry. In the past I suggested to various people that they consider a fresh re-install of Windows if they really wanted to play a pirated Sims 4. And a few of these users actually did it - and got the game running. But that's up to you.
