The Sims 4 Get Together - Virus? Empty The Sims 4 Get Together - Virus?

Post by Guest Sun 24 Jan 2016, 23:32

Hey,

I downloaded The Sims 4, The Sims 4 Get Together and The Sims 4 Get To Work from this website few days ago. Unfortunately, I had some problems launching it and at the end I gave up and uninstalled all of them. However, my computer has been lagging since I did that and today I scanned my computer with Microsoft Security Essentials. It found a virus called VirTool:Win32/Obfuscator.XZ and it is said to be located in The Sims 4 - Get Together.rar > Game/Bin/RldOrigin.dll.

I already searched on the internet and most forums say that it is a false alert, but this is not the first time I experienced virus problems connected with games which I downloaded from your website. In the past i tried downloading The Sims 4 from here too, and HitmanPro told me that a Trojan was attached to RldOrigin.dll.

I have read that all your downloads are safe, but I always experience a problem. I would believe it's a false alert but I can also see the changes in my computer's behavior - it's slow, it freezes from time to time and it's quite "noisy" if you know what I mean.

By this I'm not saying that your downloads are inficated with viruses, your website has helped me with many problems connected with games. I would just like somebody to explain me why this is happening to my computer? I followed every step in the Installation Guide and I only downloaded the games from your website.

Thanks in advance!

Hello and welcome to the forum @delight,

No worries. Fair criticism (posted in a civilized manner) is welcome here. And from your perspective and in your situation it is reasonable to assume that 'something may be wrong'. I would also react the same way probably. That said, I replied to another user a few days ago here. I'll just re-post the text in the following quote.

Carlos wrote:Hello,

It's partly because anti-virus firms are paid by game publishers to detect (safe) crack files as 'virusses'. Beyond that, it's also because of the way modern crack files work: they need to emulate the behavior of game clients like Steam or Origin, and this behavior is - in principle - similar to the way in which real virusses operate.

You can trust the download, and consider the warning of your anti-virus as a false positive. In case not, you could also download the game from another uploader, but you are most likely going to see the same 'issue' there. All the circulating Sims 4 releases right now, are technically identical.

Feel free to post back if you have more questions or need more support on anything we can help with. The Sims 4 Get Together - Virus? Icon_smile

Essentially that. If your computer feels "slow", try closing unnecessary background programs. For example, you could also use third-party tools like "Razer GameBooster" (google it), to aid you in this.

If your computer is weaker, try lowering graphics settings in the game. And if the computer sounds loud, you should try turning "vertical synchronization" ON, in your game options or in your graphics card control panel. I wrote this post here a while back:
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t21728-the-sims-4-crashes-freezes-causes-shutdowns-possible-fixes-updated-on-17-12-2015

It partially deals with vertical synchronization and other issues that can help improve the game performance. You should have a look at it. Smile

Hope this helps you - and good luck !

P.S. the fact that the game makes your computer sound loud is not related to the actual crack-files. That happens with legit games too. Essentially, it is due to very poor programming of the game. The same was also the case with The Sims 3 back then.

No worries, and you're very welcome. One thing I only touched upon briefly before was the thing with the "Loudness". The game (Sims 4) is - just like its predecessor - very poorly implemented, from a technical perspective. By default, the game will attempt to render a very high number of "frames per second". The average computer/graphics card is capable of rendering around 60 such frames. But if the game "forces" your computer to render more, the graphics card can indeed become very loud. And in the long run, if you don't do anything about it, it could lead to hardware damage.

That's why turning "vertical synchronization" ON is very important in this respect. Smile
