Sims 3 Pets - Install Disc
Hi there,
I've been tearing my hair out for hours so this is my last resort.
I followed all the instructions to an absolute tee when installing the base game, the manual patches, the Pets installation, the ultimate fix. I put all the files in the crack folders in the base game's folders as directed, not in the expansion pack folders. I've downloaded the Pets fix from a few years ago on these forums, redone the installation steps about a million times... And still I get the message telling me to install the disc.
I got so frustrated I uninstalled Pets and am now stuck with the base game. Even that won't work because I get the re-enter registration code error. I see that when people are asking for help on here they are referred to the ultimate fix and whatnot, but I have tried this a million times and I'm still getting the same error. Nothing is working.
Please help. I decided to install Pets because the ultimate fix says at least one expansion is necessary, and Pets seemed like the easiest one for now. I don't know what to do.

Hello and welcome to the forum @Ehres,
We tend to suggest using the "Ultimate fix" - because that is indeed what will work for people in 9/10 cases. In the 1/10 cases in which it doesn't, it can be tricky. At first, I suggest you take a brief break from this - otherwise you will only become more frustrated; what's more, what I am about to suggest will take your full concentration and attention. So take some rest.
When you feel better, head over to the topic here:

It may be a bit cumbersome to read, but in essence, follow the guide to remove your Sims 3 game manually. If you only have the base game + Pets installed, then you may skip the stuff relating to the other expansions. But of course, you should take your time and get the procedure right. Once you did, re-boot the computer. Then re-install the base game, re-apply the manual patch, and re-install Pets.
In my experience, this is a feasible option in cases where people cannot get the game working, after applying the fix. Good luck for now, and again, take your time and get it right.
