The Sims 3: Generations plus expansion problem/question 1490881299

Kay, I have a question. I successfully downloaded the Sims 3 from here. It works and now I'm downloading Sims 3:Generations and then I'm going to download Sims 3:Late Night. First I downloaded Generations, extracted the files and I'm on the setup. But when I go to the setup it asks to Update my Sims 3 game. I did this before with a different version and expansion and when I allowed the update it screwed everything up ): So will it effect my Sims 3 game this time or will it not effect it? Or is there some kind of fix if it messes up?
