SIMS 3 pets update error (unable to find DLL:DSETUP)

I installed pets, but i can't seem to update to 1.26
starting a game i get the error: "Unable to start: Please reinstall base game"
starting the launcher gives the same error

when i try to update, it gives "Unable to find DLL:DSETUP"

i already tried the fix (it worked the first time i installed the sims + all games)

the game worked fine, untill i installed pets. Now nothing works.

anyone any idea?

Hello,

Please try the following:

1. Backup your savegames.
2. Completely uninstall the base game.
3. Restart your PC.
4. Reinstall the base game.
5. Apply the crack that came with the Pets download.

See if it works now.
