My sims 3 keeps crashing Empty My sims 3 keeps crashing

Post by Guest Fri 04 Nov 2016, 00:45

I have been playing sims 3 that I downloaded from your website for a while now and it will not stop crashing. Within 10 minutes of gameplay, the game crashes with a "The isms  has stopped working" message. This has been going on for months now, probably 6 or 7 months and I have spent countless hours trying to fix the game that I love so much but nothing has worked. I have tried DEP, Vertical sync, the ultimate fix, factory reset, administrator mode, I got a new graphics card, and I re-downloaded all of my games recently. I have tried the half and half method with custom content and mods and it just seems like my game just can't take any mods or cc at all or else it will crash. I have noticed that when i take out all of my NRAAS mods my game seems to run long but I feel like it's just a matter of time until it crashes again although I have never played long enough for it to crash. I really don't want to take out my nraas mods because I know they shouldn't crash my game and I really love them. All of my mods are up to date and so is my custom content and I know that my computer is capable of playing sims. Does anyone know why my game is crashing? Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: I just tried playing without any NRAAS mods and the game still crashed. I'm happy to know that its not my NRAAS mods but now im really confused Why God. The only other package files i have are four skins (one default, one for babies, and two nondefault), S-Club eyelashes, and various eyebrows.

Hello and welcome to the forum @SimsplayerAmber ! Very Happy

For now (re-)do the steps from #2 to #4: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly

Next make sure that you download all available Windows updates too...

Now have another  look at this other topic here and re-do all steps: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t857-the-sims-3-crashes-freezes-to-desktop-fix-updated-on-7-01-2014

If your Windows is a 64-bit version AND if your computer has 4 GB of RAM or more, then focus on step #3 in particular. Download the "4 GB patch" from here.

After downloading, double-click on that 4 GB patch and in the next prompt, choose the TS3W.exe in your base game location. Usually, that's C:\Program files(x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin. Wait for the message "executable successfully patched" and close the 4 GB patch.

Note that this method will not work if your Windows is a 32-bit version and/or if your computer has fewer  than 4 GB of RAM. After doing that, go on with the rest of the steps. These instructions should be pretty self-explanatory.

Now go to My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3 and delete all contents inside the Currentgame.sims3 folder. Also, in My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3, delete the following stuff:

-CASPartCache.package
-compositorCache.package
-scriptCache.package
-simCompositorCache.package
-socialCache.package
-plus the contents of the folders "WorldCaches" & "Thumbnails"

Re-start the game then and see if anything improved. You may even turn off your anti-virus program completely before playing The Sims 3. Also, have you also heard about the tool "GameBooster", which can help you improve your system's performance ? Google for "Razer Cortex". My sims 3 keeps crashing Icon_smile

Finally, check out the topic about excessive FPS rendering  and try applying the procedures shown there, on your own system.

Good luck for now !

Thank you for your help @The_gh0stm4n ! I'm gonna try your suggestions in a few minutes but yesterday I tested to see it would work if I ticked the "run without custom content box" to see it sims 3 worked and it did!! I know that my custom content is clean and I have around 240 pieces of custom content so I have no idea why this would happen?? Do you have any ideas or suggestions? I hate playing without custom content

//EDIT

UPDATE: @The_gh0stm4n I tried all of your solutions and the game still crashed within 5 minutes of playing My sims 3 keeps crashing 4241093300 My sims 3 keeps crashing 4241093300

What kind of custom content exactly are we talking about? Smile  And if the game works fine without custom content it is often a strong indicator that somewhere in your CC lies the problem.

Now I'm not saying that your CC is absolutely the problem; it's really just an indication. It may be very likely that just one single (1) item from your CC causes the issue.

You could try filtering your CC one-by-one. Or, put in half the CC, start the game and see if it's running. If it doesn't remove the CC again, and insert the other half of your CC. Does that work?

Depending on how the experiment with the "CC halves" goes, you can progress from there and try narrowing down the potential source of problems. It will take time and effort, yes, but other than not using CC at all I can't really give a better solution here either. Sad

Sorry I know its been a long time @The_gh0stm4n, but i have tried the half and half method various times and it never works because I'll take something out, and then my game will work, but if i put it back in it'll work only after i took it out, and then it'll happen again with a completely different piece of cc. I know that's kinda confusing IAmSoHappyEmergahwd I think I'm going to just remove all of my cc and start recollecting new cc very carefully. Thanks for your help!
