Error startup 'sims stopped responding' What else could it be? Empty Error startup 'sims stopped responding' What else could it be?

Hi i have installed the sims 4 like a hundred times for myself and others and i knew all the solutions for any error. But now since i havent touched the game for more than half a year, i totally forgot what this error could be.

I have installed the following games from this website in this order:

- Sims 4 basic
- Outdoor retreat
- Get to work
- Party deluxe
- Spa day
- Get together
- Dine out
- Kids room etc.
- City living

I always had in installed in C/games/The sims 4 without a problem, but now i got the crash error by start up saying 'the games has stopped working'. i red that it was recommended in C/program & files x86/The sims 4 so i just moved everything to there after the installation. The error is still instantly coming by startup after a white screen, no EA logo yet.

I have AVG and an anti malware program and i have put all the crack files in exception for both programs. I dont get the origin error, so i assume its not the crack being blocked.

Then i remember you need to download the 4GBpatch if you have over 4 gb ram (I have 8gb), so i did these steps, but it didnt change anything.
I have also deleted the electronic folder from my documents just in case it was creating problems.
I just installed the game new, so i didnt even play it on this laptop, bought the laptop 2 days ago. Its a very good laptop, so for sure it should run the game. I have restarted my pc mutiple times.. still no change. What else i can do?

Hello,

At first please re-apply the latest update you have downloaded for The Sims 4. I suppose that is "City Living" for you? Also, forget about the 4GB patch; you shouldn't apply this on The Sims 4 (you read that under a Sims 3 topic, but it shouldn't be done on TS4). If you have a 32-bit Windows, you should run the TS4.exe only. If you have a 64-bit Windows, AND you want to play the 64-bit version of The Sims 4, move the install folder out of Program files (x86), since that location is only for 32-bit apps.

You could have left the game under C:\Games, if you wanted to play the TS4_x64.exe (64-bit version of the game).

For more general crash-troubleshooting, see also the topic here:
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t21728-the-sims-4-crashes-freezes-causes-shutdowns-possible-fixes-updated-on-18-07-2016

It can also be advantageous to run the game as Administrator, every time when launching it (right-click -> run as Administrator).

i have read in this forum that the 4gb patch was also working for the sims 4 and it had fixed my problem on my previous laptop, so i dont think its completely nonsense for the sims 4.

Besides that i have put city living last yes and i put the crack multiple times over it again. I saw there wasnt an ultimate fix for it.

The game didnt work in C/games/the sims 4 as well, so everything in here is what ive already did. Is it maybe that i can better just install:

base game
get to work
get together
city living

from here https://games4theworld.org/downloads/

?? Or would that not include all the other packs.

You forgot Dine Out.
Should be installed after Get Together and before City Living.

at first i installed this:

- Sims 4 basic
- Outdoor retreat
- Get to work
- Party deluxe
- Spa day
- Get together
- Dine out
- Kids room etc.
- City living

dine out was there.. then i have installed like the download stated on this forum. I didnt see any gamepack so why would dine out be more important then the other gamepack?
Im really getting confused here, cause there are so many different downloads, updates, way to install.. I just want to have a full complete sims 4 game untill city living since that was the last one.

Would this be enough then:

base game
get to work
get together
dine out
city living

installed in C/program files/the sims 4. I can start up my game but when i install the latest expansions it crashes at start up.

I know that the 4GB patch used to break the .exe file of the cracked TS4 in the past, which I tested myself multiple times back then. It's not a recommended/official tip from G4TW, I can tell you that much. Maybe what you read was a post from a well-meaning regular user. Or maybe I am out of touch, but either way, it may not matter that much anyhow.

I also notice you keep repeating the install order, but I think there is no mistake on that end. I know I said it again, but are you 100% sure you did the steps mentioned here?

I did step 2 and pasted this bcdedit.exe/set nx AlwaysOff in command prompt, but i get an error that the settings cant be changed and that it is being secured by Boot secure. I have no idea what or how to do that, is it really important to do this step??

It seems kind of weird to go through these loopholes for a sims 4 game while it worked fine before and without the last expansion.

I felt that these options are more for computers that arent able to handle the sims 4 (say it if im wrong). I always played in windows mode in all my laptops even though they were very new, high in quality to play heavy games and this one is a few days old, perfect for games and has the newest features.. Im still clueless what the problem could be.

My game used to start up in a sec a few days ago but i felt after all these tips i got here, it takes now 10 sec.

What could be the reason that a basegame with some packs works, but after city living it doesnt..?

after all.. still getting the error crash with startup.

I'm tempted to think about confirmation bias in your case here. I know your intention is probably just good (and you are only saddened because nothing seems to work for you) but believe me, my time is too valuable to give you deliberately false information. Smile  So no, the impression that my tips actually harmed you is in all likelihood wrong.

The tips that I gave you are suited for all computers, by the way.

Another thing you could try is to go under Documents\Electronic Arts and change the folder name of The Sims 4, into anything else. Then run the game again and see how it goes this time.

In the guide about crashing that I linked to, there is a method of activating the DEP manually. The screenshot with the option here:

Error startup 'sims stopped responding' What else could it be? 6xjqoX9

I remember one user suggested to have the internet connection ON during gameplay to reduce crashes, so in case your internet is off during the game, you could try that as well.

You should also know, that what we are doing here is not a 100% exact science, and we are not a professional customer support-forum (even if it may look like that for you). If you absolutely cannot make the game work, you are more than welcome to google for other solutions, beyond these here. I'm sorry if I sound dismissive.

I think u misunderstood my comments, sorry for that. Always appreciate the help here and come on... its pretty fast! So no i didnt blame you indirect for anything you said, i was only thankful, but a bit frustrated yes.

But GOOD news! I realised that while installing the basegame in another choosen location, it always automatically installs it in program and files x86/electronic arts/the sims 4 even though its written your choosen location. So when i kept installing the other packs in my choosen location, it basically didnt even have a basegame installed there, so obivously it will crash.

its also the reason why the basegame would work without packs, cause it was starting up from a different location i didnt know of. So everything works fine now! I just moved the whole game to program files now (after all installations), cause it was giving the origin error in program files x86 and i remember your advice that with a x64 bit system it wont work in the x86 location.

SO BIG THANKS! I am happy again Smile
