The Sims 4. Empty The Sims 4.

Post by Guest Thu 04 Sep 2014, 11:19

Hello Community and all, In this review I will be discussing some of my opinions on the new game Sims 4

So lets get down to it, first up the Pros:

1. Cartoonish and slick graphics
2. New interface moods
3. Quests in social events
4. Better Character Customization
5. Multi-tasking
(I'm really sorry, I don't know what other good things there are, please don't hate this is just purely my opinion, everyone is obliged to their own opinion)

Cons:
1. Boring, I didn't find it engaging nor interesting at all.
2. The game isnt a whole map, its disected in to parts, so if you want to go to the park you'll need to load into another map. (doesnt load any faster, some argue it's good some say it's bad, I mean come on don't you want to hover around the town to spy on what sims is doing what at all in the public?)
3.When your Sim goes to work, you can't check his status (edit: no choices random events pop up at the work place, e.g. do you want to stay back at work to get increased work performance?)can't do anything (sims 3 had chances at work where you could choose) Very shallow progression in jobs.
4. Boring Careers, less careers than Sims 3
5. Dull and less items (COME ON NO DISHWASHERS OR HOT TUBS, NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!)
6. No goal in the whole entire game,
7. GAME KEEPS CRASHING
8. GAME HAS BUGS
9. No skill Books
10. Less skills to master, which is just sigh.....
11. So many less features (e.g. toodlers, pools and FAMILY TREEES?????)

So this is just my opinion so feel free to discuss after you played it! Hope you enjoy it better than I did! Hammertime

I didn't find the game that buggy, did found some bug but not that much. And skills book are bought directly from your own library ( or thru the "dablette" where you can read e-books ) And there is plenty of skills. Less indeed but different ones.

Yes, I do. I'm old enough now ( hahaha ! ) to understand that EA sucked at their strategy : they released stuff to early and thus, expectations aren't met.

I've been playing the game since Sims 1 so, having to start over isn't a surprise, it is disappointing. After so long, EA could stop doing that and gave players a bit more credit than stupid people needing a tutorial to play legos ( or barbies, just the same )

Overall, the game is promising : but only if you think there will be add ons with interesting stuff to make up to it.

I remember when Sims 3 came out. It was fun out of the box, but a lot of Sims 2 players preferred Sims 2 because of all the expansions ... than World Adventure came out ... and god that was a blast !

I won't uninstall my Sims 3 game. I'll play Sims 4 but I know I'll soon go back to Sims 3 because I'm not a builder, I prefer to play and playing pixels that needs to bladder more often than me isn't fun Smile
I do agree that the new CAS is really a success and the new features for building, it will make my life a bit easier since I can't build for the life of me Very Happy

Yea what you just said then has gave me a bit of insight on the game itself, because I feel like that EA is trying to drain more and more money out of people, by the way did you torrent the game, if so does it keep crashing for you?

Hello Jazzro and welcome,

I haven't played the game (yet), but some of the other team members have pointed out that this system with "sections" of the neighborhood needing to be loaded is due to EA wanting the game to be not so processor-intensive, like TS3, where the all parts of the neighborhood are open at the same time. That was demanding in terms of computer performance.

Also, about the "no goal"...this type of game isn't meant to have a "real" goal actually. In a so-called "sandbox" game you can do whatever you want, without having to do any goals. Of course, it depends on how well it is implemented, but I enjoyed TS3 very much. I assume that - at some point - TS4 will eventually become at least similar.

Of course, if the gameplay content is so limited, then it doesn't matter whether sandbox or not - it just becomes boring very quickly.

Thank you Carlos for replying, maybe i kinda was just over a bit on my head not thinking properly, as I found that the game did somewhat disappoint me a bit, because I thought it would be basically Sims 3 with a new layout and extra features, but instead they revamped the whole game, and cut so many features out, letting me a bit down Sad

Oh, and when i meant goal i meant like your aspiration and mastering a skill leading to good rewards.
edit: they do have goals and aspirations, but i think sims 3 had more and were better

It is true that it loads a bit faster than loading the whole map, but it doesn't feel like it did make the game run smoother nor faster, so what would be the difference in just making it is separate bits? I mean come on I had to load, to get to the guy's house next to me... really???

But what really infuriates me is that the lack of features and items, feel like EA is going to some crappy DLC's again like Gnerations (includes toddler now!) or some summer beach stuff pack (NOW WITH POOLS!)

1 thing you guys are not realizing is that all these changes about the maps and stuff is for the lag, remember that constant lag in the sims 3? Yup. And like i said, go ahead and play sims 3 with only the base game, see how much fun itll be

Sup man, have you played Sims 4? It kinda still lags not the smoothest thing ever.

Also Yes I remember the lag In fact I played Sims 3 with all expansions, stuff packs and store items (which took me 10 minutes to load into one sim game) So yes I remember, but in return it gives us so much more content, amusement, travelling with your sims and checking the whole map when you are bored (when sims is working)

So try out Sims 4, you might like it, but it my opinion I think EA could have done better

Well obviously it has less features than the sims 3 which is of course disappointing, i personally love the cartoonish graphics over the sims 3, the faces show so much emotion not like those lifeless doll like faces in sims 3, ofc its buggy right now it just got released , honestly i think people had their expectations set a lil too high, j personally am enjoying the sims 4, but anyways ull probably like it later when they update it a little and add some eps, i have to go to work now, so dont expect me to reply in like 10 hours

Just a small note: I moved the topic to "Game Reviews". Wink

And as for me, I never had ANY expectations at all on that game - since I'm not planning to buy it anyway.

Hello,
I been playing the game for 1 and half a day so I wanted to write my opinion about this Very Happy

1. Gameplay changes from person to person so pick a story of how you wanna play and how you wanna move on and follow it, play it at slowest speed and always "imagination" Razz. I like the game myself, having fun.

2. I missed that sims 2 feature in sims 3. I think EA did this because in sims 3 when you go to a community lot, they were empty and boring as hell. That made me miss sims 2. And another reason is that open worlds lag more so they did this to reduce lag and let more players enjoy the game.

3. You can check their status. You have to click that button to select the status.
The Sims 4. 5de63b78eec073f77354fa26e0cd1eee

4. As a base game, I think there are enough carreers and some are strange like super agent, tech guru, entertainer etc.

5. Yep same thing, it is a base game. Did you find more items in sims 3 base game? No need for dishwasher while there are sinks Razz. I got a popup while I ıwas in culinary or whatever carreer saying I overfilled the dishwasher but luckily it didnt get broke. Dishwasher confirmed! XD. Agreed on hottub tho, that was bad.

6. If you dont put a goal in this game, there is no goal. A lil imagination Razz

7 and 8. I guess you are using cracked version. If you are, crack is unstable as heck because it is a temporary crack and if you want I can help you with this because there are ways to fix temporary crack bugs a little bit. I have no bugs for now but crashes, yes. You are safe if you just save your game before travelling or going into cas or change appearance.

9. You corrected this but they are accessible directly from bookshelves Very Happy

10. I know you got bored of this but, it is a base game (lol I know I keep repeating this). I think there are good ones tho. Video game skill and mischief one, comedy skill, programming? Rocket science!? lol. There are kinda lot, not much but can't say there are less skills comparing to sims 3 base game.

11. I think we will see these features in "Swimming Toddlers" expansion pack (just kidding XD). Yeah that was bad to happen but we will see them sooner. We can still use fountains as decorative pools Razz

and I think you kept your pros really little. I am lazy to type the pros for myself so nvm Very Happy You should include multitasking as pros because why not? You can work out on treadmill while watching tv and talking with others with the options you choose. You can even do this! How hilarious it is XD.

not too worried about the pros since we all have different tastes. more focused on your cons.
(i'm waiting for the game).

2. loading screens. so does that mean I can't walk to the park or to my neighbor/friends house anymore? it's now like the other sims where it would load and then poof i'm at their house? if this is the case. I'm not playing sims 4. -.- i loved this feature in sims 3.

3. that kind of sucks. I expect it's because there will be something like "ambitions" coming out with all these "new" old features.

4. careers were a plus. Sometimes I just wanted to be the millionaire who threw parties all the darn time. other times i was just a nobody at some dead end job hoping to meet the one. Smile so it doesn't bother me just yet.

5. meh. i see this as a "look we have new items" pack in the future.
6. we don't have a lifetime wish anymore? Sad
11. cashgrab expansions again. "generations" expansion. i'm sure is what happened. but NOOOO! why no family tree? Sad

Oh hi,

2. Well you can go to the park meet up with your neighbors and friends all that is accessible, but the map is smaller and if you want to go to a neighbors, it'll go into another loading screen, and you are restricted in that lot unless you  load to another map/lot.

3. Yea same, but was a bit disappointing

5. So true

6. i crossed it out, there are life aspirations and goals, when i meant goals i meant more ways of living and playing, like having more things to do, the careers paths don't productive that, so that why i meant lack of goal

11. EA is getting more and more ridiculous

Opinion: IF you are going to buy it, torrent it first then try it, you might find it a lot different to SIMS 3, SO DIFFERENT, and its 90 dollars for the deluxe edition for all I stated above, so don't buy it and regret it, try it first, if might not be as bad as i stated, but what i said above were clearly neutral statements from the gameplay i experienced

I think I already knew what's coming behind those loading screen. I think maybe in the future those loading screen will be the bridge for the online features where you can visit your friends house through online and probably the 2nd reason is to prevent LAG/Crash/Stutter.
