The Sims 2 Graphic Rules.srg access denied still

Hello, I installed all of the sims 2 games, only to get the directx 9 message saying that my computer doesn't support it. I went to the forum looking for a solution, and found the one that showed how to change Graphic rules and get passed that access denied part. After looking in the properties and seeing that the "Read Only" is unchecked already, I'm lost. How do I get passed the "Access denied" warning? Also, I know that the "Sims2EP9.exe" is in the right location, so I know it's not that. Thanks.

PS. I've tried downloading the copy of the "Sims2EP9.exe" file and replacing it, but to no avail.

Hello and welcome to the Forum @SaltySpitoon,

If possible for you, please either post a screenshot of the error message you are encountering. Or type the message's wording out. Other than that, did you paste the Sims2EP9.exe under C:\Program files (x86)\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Mansion and Garden Stuff\TSBin ? 

You could also try to copy/paste that GraphicsRules.sgr to the desktop, edit the file there, and then copy/paste it back to the original location. And of course replace the old file. See if the system lets you doing that.
