"Please insert disk 1" when installing

Hello
YES I know this question have both been asked and answered a few times and I did read those threads but it just left me more confused as to what the problem was.
So I'll go through this in as much detail as I can.
For some reason which I can't remember the Sims 3 stopped working and I had to uninstall it, and never really got around to re-install it. I still had all the files, that worked perfectly with the ultimate fix last time, which I got from the Complete Collection.
So today when I finally decided to re-install the game, I went to find this thread: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly# which I used the last time, and followed the steps correctly. I saw a thread here about patches for old expansions, which had me confused since it had worked the last time without them. And then I opened the .pdf file in the Ultimate Fix folder and followed THOSE steps for the expansion I had installed, when I remembered that I had forgotten to install Ambitions. I tried to do it and the error ("please insert disk 1) popped up when I tried to install it. In the other threads I read something about extracting the .rar file but I don't know how or what that means.. I'm just very confused, can someone please help me figure out what I've done wrong and how to fix that? And also explain it like I'm five cause I'm not very good at all the technical stuff and also English is my second language so it's even harder in English. But don't get me wrong, I have understood the guides and I'm pretty sure I've done everything right, but some human mistakes can have been made.
