Sims 1 Complete installation hangs at 95%

Hi,

My install freezes at 95% and the only way to get out of it is to kill the process. I've tried compatibility settings and turned off UAC but the issue remains.

If I look at the file the process is failing on it looks to be IKernel.exe.
When I kill the process I get the error "The remote procedure call failed"

This is on a fresh install of Windows 10.

After 95% it is quite normal that it takes a bit longer to proceed with the installation.
On most PC's/laptops there is a LED showing activity on the hard disk.
When that LED blinks or lights up, the installation is still in progress

It just stops copying files for some reason. I've left it for 30 mins+ and the PC is an i7 with an SSD so I'd expect it to be pretty speedy.

Maybe your SSD is full.
Try to install on a normal harddrive.
I don't see there is an advantage to install the Sims on an SSD anyway

It’s a clean install of Windows. I get the same result on the secondary standard speed drive.

When you extracted the download, any errors ?

No it extracted fine

Sometimes it will help installing the game not by start.exe but:
Open the folder Setup, now you'll see various Setup.BAT files.
When you want your installation in English, click on Setup_English.BAT. For other languages it's obvious which Setup file must be used.

Always perform installation as an Administrator.

Not necessarily a bad choice, but you should use WinRAR for Games4theworld-downloads only, in order to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Sorry, I'm afraid I can't help much on that end. The .rar should be working flawlessly though. What you can try, if you like, is to re-download the torrent, maybe with a different torrent client. And then re-extract with WinRAR, and so forth.
