Sims 4: Unable to start [SOLVED] Empty Sims 4: Unable to start [SOLVED]

Post by Guest Fri 29 Sep 2017, 08:40

I was reinstalling the Sims yesterday because I just had to uninstall it and I always check the game if it plays. When I've installed the origin one it says this error :

Unable to Start:
The contents of your user data directory were created by a newer version of The Sims 4 and cannot be loaded. Please update your game via Origin to play.

I don't get it since I have played using the same installer for the past week and it worked fine.
Should I install every pack so it would work?Sims 4: Unable to start [SOLVED] Sahij

When you re-install the game and play f.e. just the base game, it is obvious that this error occurs.
You have played with other DLC's with a higher version.
Go to User\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 and delete the file GameVersion.
The start the game again.

Thanks for that! I never realized there was an EA Folder in the Documents section. It's fixed, but now when I open the game it stops at the Sims 4 logo part and then it doesn't respond. LMAO.

Hi,

Do you have any mods/CCs as well? If yes, I'd suggest moving the Mods folder out, or alternatively, rename your current Sims 4 folder in Documents to sims4backup and then run the game. Your saves/trays/mods will be saved, and you can transfer them over after checking the game is running fine.

In addition to what @Ageha suggested above:

Once again this problem could be caused by your The Sims 4 folder in Documents\Electronic Arts.
Try a new folder by simply renaming the existing folder The Sims 4 to The Sims 4_old and then start your game again.

Your existing the Sims 4 folder contains details of previously installed DLC's that are not present in your current game with less DLC's installed.

Glad to see that re-installing the game works.  Smile
