Issues with Origin.
I can't even get the game to start. I installed everything following the guide, up to and including the ultimate fix.
When I open it, it seems fine. then the Origin login window pops up and the sims 4 X64.exe shuts itself down. No error codes, nothing.

Hi, just by looking at that first sentence, I think you have not followed the instructions carefully, because nowhere in the guide is it stated that you should install the ultimate fix.
In the introduction of the ultimate update only fix intro it clearly states
Remember, this is only for people who have a slow internet (and cannot easily download the main DLC for the game) and/or slower computers. If you want to install DLC for The Sims 4, DO NOT USE THIS THING. Instead, please follow the guide here instead:
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t21806-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-4-correctly
So all your DLC' will be gone This can be fixed by doung the following
This is a suggestion by Polarbear
When you applied the Ultimate fix, inspite of all warnings that this fix is for the base game only, you seem to have "lost" all previously installed DLC's.
This can be solved easily:
1. Open the download of your highest installed DLC
2. Open the folders Game and Bin and copy the file RldOrigin.ini to your desktop
3. Now open your installation folder, f.e. Program Files\The Sims 4
4. Again go to Game -> Bin and copy RldOrigin.ini from your desktop to the folder Bin overwriting the existing file.
All installed DLC's are back again updated to version 1.33.
Have you MOVED the sims 4 folder out of the origin or electronics arts folder? MOVED, not copy paste? It must be put into C:program files, if you have a 64 bit computer. This you do by cut/paste.

Re: Issues with Origin.
yes I moved it from the Electronic Arts Folder in program files (x86) and moved it to Program files by itself. I did not copy. I physically dragged it.
I did not initially install the ultimate fix, only the error code 3 fix. I tried playing the game first and it gave me the origin is not working error. Searching here on that suggested the ultimate fix. Going back to the Toddlers stuff files just brings back the same "origin is not working" error. going back to the error code 3 install brings up origin so fast, my head spins, and then gives me the same origin error

@StickShift ,
Hi there,
I'm assuming you actually have Origin installed in your pc? If so, try disabling it and make sure it's not running in the background. A last resort would be uninstalling the Origin client itself. Also, check that your anti-virus/windows defender had been properly set up.

Yes, I do have Origin installed due to another game. How do I disable it?

Re: Issues with Origin.
Is there an option to turn it off? I think there's an option to either play offline or turn origin off for certain games. Ah, I've googled something, hope it helps.StickShift wrote:Yes, I do have Origin installed due to another game. How do I disable it?

Else, try logging out and then close origin completely from the Task Manager. When running the sims 4, origin should not be open/running.

Re: Issues with Origin.
Just have a look at your taskbar on the right hand side (especially at the ^sign)
When you see the Origin icon rightclick on it and click on Exit.
Hint: In Origin make sure it doesn't start up when Windows is started.

Re: Issues with Origin.
I just uninstalled origin. The reason I had it in the first place was because I got a game for free at one point. It's tied to my account so I can probably just visit the origin website when I want to install it.

Hahaha, yes that. Thank you, I didn't have Origin installed for so long.Polarbear wrote:Just have a look at your taskbar on the right hand side (especially at the ^sign)

The Origin helper might still be active.StickShift wrote:Just tried it after installing origin. still the same "origin is not running" error.
Restart your computer and try again

Re: Issues with Origin.
THE origin not running error
This error can only by caused by:- Origin (or ZLOrigin) is still active/running on your computer. Close all instances of Origin/ZLOrigin.
- Your installation folder for the Sims 4 (or a copy of it) is still within another directory Electronic Arts, Origin, ZLOrigin, Origin Games or ZLOrigin Games. MOVE it to f.e. Program Files(x86)\The Sims 4 by Cut/Paste.
- Your anti-virus has disabled the crack Rld.dll and/or RldOrigin.dll in your installiaton folder\Game\Bin.
- You placed a copy of TS4.exe or TS4_x64.exe on your desktop instead of a shortcut.
Reason 2 is often caused when you installed the base game from G4TW's download as this download automatically places the game in C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4.
So MOVE, not COPY, it out of the folder Electronic Arts.
Reason 3. is caused when you have not placed the installation folder The Sims 4 AND the folder where you extract Winrar downloads in the exceptions of your anti-virus.
Extract your highest installed DLC again and copy the folder Game again to your installtion folder.

Re: Issues with Origin.
If you happen to have another certain "security program" installed (Lavasoft's Web Companion), consider uninstalling that and re-booting the computer. If you don't have this program, and if you feel you can do without McAffee, consider uninstalling that program as well, and use another program on which you can configure exclusions more easily. I use avast, but there may be other/better things around.
After you did that, re-apply the latest available No-Origin files here:
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t23706-latest-available-no-origin-files-for-the-sims-4-version-1-33-38-1020
Good luck!

Re: Issues with Origin.
I did not know Lavasoft existed, so no. I don't have it.
I don't plan to get rid of mcafee until the 1 year subscription is up in march.

Fair enough, but on the other hand please understand that as far as your main issue is concerned there won't be much else we can suggest. Those (mainstream) antivirus programs are designed for users with a rather limited knowledge of the 'workings' of computers. Of course you don't need to be an IT expert - contrary to widespread belief - to properly configure exclusions.
Still, those mainstream programs have everything "simplified", so that not much user input is needed. Oftentimes these programs don't even accept user input if someone does try to change (some of) the settings. On the other hand, these companies of course take the input from copyright holders such as Microsoft and EA and aggressively purge cracked files.
If you absolutely want to play a cracked TS4, maybe you are better served with using zlOrigin; for a starting guide see this here:
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t30092-zlorigin-made-simple
I hear the zlOrigin-based TS4 is somewhat less susceptible to interferences from "security" software...

Re: Issues with Origin.
I suppose that is because the game is not cracked, Origin is. But can't be sure.

Re: Issues with Origin.
The only "crack" that could cause problems in ZlOrigin is Zclient itself. But as long as you install Zclient as Administrator and accept the settings in the firewall, you are OK.The_gh0stm4n wrote:

Re: Issues with Origin.
Yes, I figured that (and forgot to mention it before), since the actual game installation files appear to be the same as with the legit Origin, they are unlikely to be targeted by security software.

At that point I still can't figure out why RldOrigin.dll is targeted and RldOrigin_x64.dll is not.The_gh0stm4n wrote:Yes, I figured that (and forgot to mention it before), since the actual game installation files appear to be the same as with the legit Origin, they are unlikely to be targeted by security software.
In general the 64-bits version seems to have no problems at all with AV.

You shall be forgiven @Polarbear. And we shall leave analyses like these to people with advanced computer "science" expertise (I'm almost sure though it has something to do with reasons along the lines of "data structures" and "anti-virus algorithms not yet being able to adapt to those", but I admit that is only little more than an educated guess from me).

Re: Issues with Origin.
I came to update this. This topic can now be closed. The game is working.
Not long after this, the laptop posted a windows error and said to restart, so I restarted and it refused to recognize the SSHD. period. Was on the phone with Dell tech support trying a multitude of things. Nothing worked. However, it was under warranty, so they sent me a replacement SSHD, preloaded with Windows 10. Installed the new drive, redownloaded all my things, and the game now works. In fact, Windows as a whole runs better than before. As a bonus, the bloatware it came with is gone, including the McAfee BS
Not sure what was different on the previous SSHD since it's the exact same part but the difference is night and day. My guess is the Windows 10 install got corrupted somehow and took down the whole drive.
So, the game is working now, using the same install setup as before.
