Sims 4 Cats and Dogs install - crashes on start-up

Hi guys,

I have all the expansions installed in the correct order and followed the instructions for installing the game, and my game was working perfectly until I tried to install Sims 4 Cats and Dogs. Now, when I try to start the game, it opens the window and then immediately crashes before loading, saying "the sims 4 has stopped working". I have tried to play the game from the edited "game_" folder that I kept before installing Cats and Dogs, but now it just says unable to start, your sims 4 folders are updated etc, please start your game via origin.


Has anyone else had this problem and found a fix? If not, could someone explain how to uninstall Cats and Dogs so I can play without the expansion, because it was working perfectly before!

Hello @jadeymas and welcome to G4TW forum.

Playing without any EP/SP/GP is kinda not possible. What you can do is install the latest update after installing all expansion/stuff/game packs. After you did that run the game either 32 bit or 64 bit (if you have 64 bit PC run the TS4_x64 as the normal version will cause errors) but make sure to run the game from GAME FOLDER

If your computer meets the updated hardware requirements for Cats & Dogs here:

I would also give it a shot indeed, with the newer update, like the previous poster suggested. If you haven't done so already, also check out the crashing troubleshoot guide.

Unfortunately there is no clear-cut and easy way to "rollback" a patch, that is provided in the format like on G4TW here. The safest, albeit most tedious method is to start over with installing everything up to and including "Toddlers Stuff".
