How to create a new game? [SOLVED]

i messed up a save and i wanted to make a new game but i don have that option. please help

Just delete or rename your The Sims 4 folder in Documents\Electronic Arts and your game is as new.

I moved your post to the right section and also deleted your duplicate message. Is your problem solved?   Also, if I may ask, do you happen to recall how exactly you damaged/modified your savefiles? I know that one can accidentally delete all, or some of the savefiles. But other than that...?

i used task manager to end to the game but i had forgot to save the world so it ended up corrupting my game. and how did you delete the save other than renaming the sims 4 file name

i downloaded the base game and tried running it to make sure that it runs proper before installing the update but it says that i am unable to start the game and The contents of your user data directory were created by a newer version of The Sims 4 and cannot be loaded please update the game the original play. is this Supposed to happen? should i just continue to download the updates? i also went to check the sims file and it says .par instead of application

Anything you like, alythough I always rename it to The Sims 4_old or The Sims 4_damaged

Got to the folder Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 and delete the file GameVersion.txt.
Also, did you MOVE the install folder The Sims 4 out of the folder Electronic Arts ? (necessary)

i had tried playing while it was in the EA folder and when it didn't work i tried moving it out. this wasn't my first time downloading the game so i knew how to download it but i didn't think it was supposed to say .par instead of application.

in many cases the extension .par means the download/extraction/conversion is not for 100% completed.

Topics have been merged; since the new topic was created shortly after opening the original one, let's keep all discussions in one place, until everything has been resolved.

Also @corn, the 'point' of renaming those folders is to make them unrecognizable by the game. That said, it indeed does not matter what you rename it to.

Edit: original problem seems resolved, so I will lock the thread now and mark the topic as "solved".
