Installation won't let me install where I want it to

Whats the point of even having a custom install location option if it secretly installs on the C: drive at the end anyway? I can't have the game install on my C: drive since its running pretty low on space as it is and for whatever reason this installation is not allowing me to install anywhere else which is bizarre.

No, whatever you try to do, the G4TW download for the base game will always come to C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4.
So either make some space on your C drive or:
* Download an alternative base game that is fully compatible with the G4TW download, but can be installed anywhere on your computer (see HERE)
* Download a full all-in containing all DLC's from base game up to and incl. Jungle Adventure that can be copied to even an external drive (see HERE)

As soon as you have installed the base game in C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 you MUST MOVE (not copy) that folder The Sims 4 to another location on your computer, f.e. to your Disk D. That new location will become youir new install-folder.
Then you must install the other DLC's to that new location.
