Moving Sims 4 Documents folder to another drive Empty Moving Sims 4 Documents folder to another drive

Recently I moved from a 2012 laptop to a new desktop PC. The Sims 4 is one of the first games I installed and I noticed not only how the performance improved but also how loading times improved a lot as well. I like it but I have some questions.

I have my Sims 4 game installed in
C:\Program Files\The Sims 4
I only touch that folder whenever there's an update

yet the Sims 4 uses another folder that I modify a lot.
C:\Users\Admin\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4

I have screenshots, save files, weird lastexception and locathumbcache files heavy files and especially mods. I love mods, but they are troublesome. Not only I have many many mods, I also modify them very often. I add new ones, delete old ones, update them and I merge them with Sims 4 Studio. In fact I spend more time checking out mods than actually playing!

My C Drive is an MX300, an old TLC SSD. I wanted to have Windows and games in the SSD to load faster but it suffers and dies slowly every time its files are modified and I'd prefer it if it lasted for many years.

I added as D Drive the 5400rpm HDD from my 2012 laptop which is much slower. I save there my photos, music, videos, personal documents, downloads folder and emulators.

Would my Sims 4 loading speeds (to load mods and save files) decrease if I move the Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to the slow HDD? or only the game installation folder matters?
What about Sims 2 or 3? I haven't installed them yet in this PC, I liked them but I hated their extremely slow loading screens.
Is there any way to move the the Sims mods folder to the HDD without moving the whole Documents folder? I have other games that also use the Documents folder and I prefer to don't move them.

Thanks!

Unfortunately you cannot move your c:Electronic Arts/Documents /The sims 4 folder. he game by default looks for the game folders ( Play-folders, as I call them) on c: drive.
With sims 2 on my old XP desktop I moved the COMPLETE My Documents folder to an external HDD, but I had to connect that HDD to the Desktop every time I wanted to work on any kind of document. It did not work with only moving the The sims 4 file. created a new electronic Arts/The sims4 file in My Documents every time I started to play. Correct me, if I am wrong

Hello,

I have no first-hand experience with SSDs, mostly because I am not a computer expert; and because I don't think the additional price plus the care you have to invest into maintaining an SSD really justify a purchase. Even if the performance ends up being better. Then again, that's just my personal opinion.

What I can answer though is, yes: there is a way to just move the folder "The Sims 4" from Documents. Or any subfolder thereof. It involves using so-called "symbolic links":
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t17437-redirecting-the-username-folder-the-sims-3-to-a-different-location

There are also third-party tools that can help you with that; feel free to do some googling. Note that the guide deals with TS3, but you can apply the procedure analogously to TS4 as well.

Good luck!
