Sims 3 asking for a registration code, for everything
Hello! Really sorry if there was a post for this already, I am new and I looked around, but I couldn't seem to find a problem specifying my issue.
I followed the instructions to what I believe, correctly, and then it tells me to "install expansions or stuff packs that you want". I was a little bit confused about exactly where, but I've been trying to install it from Windows C drive- Program files X86- EA- Sims 3- Game- Bin- Packs where the exe file is and it just asks for a registration code when I click it, and will continually pop up no matter what I type in. This is the same when I press play for the base game as well, but I thought installing expansion packs would fix it. I also added the extra TS3W.exe and TSLHost.dll files as well to no avail, as well as redownloading it. This is the only location I could find which has the packs files in, so I'm sorry if I was meant to click on another file this whole time! Game updated fine though, this seems to be the only issue I have. Would love some help!

When you install new DLC's - using the path you described above - they should go to:PaddyTheDog wrote:Hello! Really sorry if there was a post for this already, I am new and I looked around, but I couldn't seem to find a problem specifying my issue.

C:\Program Files (x86)\EA\The Sims 3 and not in Game\Bin
Only the crack (TS3W.exe and TSLHost.dll) should go to Game\Bin.

It doesn't seem to be. When I go through I get to The Sims 3 file which leads me to these:Tarac wrote:When you install new DLC's - using the path you described above - they should go to:PaddyTheDog wrote:Hello! Going through Game and Bin brings up the Pack folder which has files like TS3 and TS3EP01, 02 etc
These have EXE files in them and these are the only places I can find runnable files of the Expansion packs (that's where the registration code came from)
Apologies if I'm looking in the wrong files!

If you installed the 1.67 fix files correctly, copy the fixed TS3W.exe and TSLHost.dll to C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin, you should be able to launch the game using the fixed TS3W.exe file. Trying to launch the individual EPs/SPs from their install folders will always throw an error

Re: Sims 3 asking for a registration code, for everything
Definitely did that, but when I launch it asks for a registration code. The fix for this is apparently to install the expansion packs as well, but it asks for codes as well and from what it sounds like they're not in the right place. Maybe it downloaded incorrectly again... but not sure why I've tried redownloading a couple timesDracos66 wrote:PaddyTheDog wrote:It doesn't seem to be. Re: Sims 3 asking for a registration code, for everything
Sorry to bother again, but while I'm trying to fix this I've guessed 2 issues could be causing this- either Origin being downloaded or downloading the RAR file into my D Drive so I could have space to install the game there. I feel dumb not mentioning it as it could be doing something weird, do you have to do anything special when you install the game on a D Drive? It seems to want to create files on both the drives yet neither seem to workPaddyTheDog wrote:Definitely did that, but when I launch it asks for a registration code. Sorry for the late reply,
If you want to install the game on a different hard-drive than the default C: , then you need to do some preparations beforehand:
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t19680-a-note-on-installing-the-sims-3-on-external-drives
If you are using the version of Sims 3 with the individual installers for each expansion/stuffpack, you need to create these install folders manually, and beforehand. As for your current install, I would suggest you uninstall it properly. See this post here for example.
It really appears to be a weakness of EA's default installer, that if you select a non-C location, that the installer seemingly can't properly create install folders.
Good luck!
