Installing Sims 3 Pets, Says Sims 3 Isn't Installed?

Hi, first I just wanted to thank you for your time, and if their is a topic with this issue please direct me to it, I wasn't able to locate it, thanks!

The issue I am having is that I have sims 3 legitimately installed via Steam. However I wanted to use your version on Sims3 Pets. Yet when I attempt to launch the installer, it tells me I don't have sims 3 installed. My sims 3 however works perfectly fine, and the file directory for it is still C:\Users\Owner\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3

Can someone help me please with this issue? Thanks again :3

Where did you install the base game from?

Steam, I bought it and downloaded via the steam program.

I think that's what you're asking, it was a virtual download. No disks :3

Ahh alright, will all my legit DLC also need to be re-downloaded from another place?
