You can't install .exe files on a mac, unless you're using Bootcamp or an emulator like Wineskin or CrossOver.

hey!! i have a mac too, and can help a little with figuring out your options!!

there are a lot of articles that might help - just google "how to run windows programs on mac" or something similar. if youre trying to run a sims game, it might be best to go with something that doesnt impact performance, or impacts it minimally. if youve got a decent amount of space on your harddrive, ive heard good things about using bootcamp to section some of it off and run a windows os, but afaik youll need to pay for a windows license Sad

wine is mentioned a lot, but its pretty difficult to use on its own - there are a few programs that use the wine system but give you a far simpler interface. the only one ive had luck with so far is playonmac, but im sure there are more, and a lot of them are free!! id avoid winebottler though, learned the hard way thats its kind of outdated WhatDidUJustCallMe?

I got a Windows 10 Enterprise .iso from The Piratebay; given the main subject matter of this platform though, that should not come as a surprise.  Haters gonna hate Someone else in another thread claimed that the hardware used in these computers is not particularly good, and using Bootcamp creates a "special kind of stress on the hardware". That corrobotes what @Dieneryn (a former Mac-mod on here, bless her) once told me too. Nonetheless, it is indeed something one could try.

The issue I see here is that in an ideal world, you "can have it both ways". But this is not an ideal world.

On the one hand, people are fond of Apple/Mac-software, and while I don't have much firsthand experience with it myself, I mostly hear good stuff only. On the other hand, people also want to benefit from advantages of the Windows platform, namely that the mainstream gaming industry focuses on that platform primarily. And since apparently there are "some issues" when you try using or configuring a Mac computer for said gaming purposes, it naturally leads to frustration in the holy realm of the Californian apple. And elsewhere I suppose.

If you just want to play The Sims, then maybe it's worth the hassle. Beyond that, I'd really advise everybody to save up for a decent (Windows) gaming PC, if you intend to play more than just Sims. So yes, use two separate computers.
