Unable to start. [SOLVED] Empty Unable to start. [SOLVED]

Post by Guest Tue 10 Mar 2020, 19:45

Hey there! I will appreciate any help with this.
So I installed Tiny Living stuff in january and it was working and everything was ok. Then I got viruses on my pc (not from here probably) and I had to clean my computer, so I deleted random stuff that looked like viruses and probably deleted something that Sims needs to run.
Here`s the screenshot of error message -
Unable to start. [SOLVED] Error10

I read a topic about start-up errors, so used the Sims 4 validator. Here`s the results:

report:

I`m probably missing some files needed for start-up but I dont know how to fix it.
Thanks for the help in advance.

PS. You guys are doing amazing job with this forum and everything! Thank you so much for your work.

Welcome to the G4TW Forums @HelloFromTheOtherSide,

Can you do a secondary validator check, but this time please unmark the box that says "quick scan". This new scan will take longer, but it will show stuff under "hash mismatch", if there is any problem.

You can also safely delete all stuff that shows under "unknown files".

May I ask if you are actually playing the Legacy Edition-version of TS4 (TS4.exe), or the regular one (TS4_x64.exe)?

Ok, sure, I'll do that today.
I was usually playing regular one x64. And it was working perfectly. Oh, and now when I try to open legacy edition, it doesn't work either.
And I have no idea how I got so many unknown files etc. I was usually downloading expansion packs and then just adding them in Sims 4 folder, if that helps..

Ok, so with a little bit of trying I fixed it and looks like it works.
I`ll tell what I did, maybe it will be helpful.
So the last error I got, from there, I deleted "GameVersion.txt" from ../Documents/Electronic Arts/Sims 4 folder. Then the game started but it was crushing on loading screen.
Then I found that you can download Game folder (https://www.games4theworld.club/t35825-game-crashes-seconds-after-startup-solved). So I deleted the old one, installed a new one, ran the game and now it`s working.
Hurray. Thanks for the help tho. Smile

Sorry for the belated response,

Yes, the issue is usually fixable by deleting the GameVersion.txt. In my experience it happens usually when people apply the latest available patch, encounter some kind of problem (e.g. mods), and when re-installing can't or don't want to re-apply the latest patch. Then again, it's usually all good after deleting that file.

Solved and closed!
