Manual Patch doesn't work. [SOLVED]

Hello, I have tried using the fix that i found in order to update the sims 3 and I got to the updatestage. The normal update wouldnt work so I downloaded the manual patch and tried it. It took a long while to load and then i got a popup window saying something about service pack 1. I updated my computer to try again and the same thing happened only now it said service pack 2 instead. Ive thought about reinstalling everything as I now cant play the game at all, please help!

Which windows version + Service Pack are you using?
Besides, when exactly do you get that error?

I just updated to service pack 2 and its windows vista.
I press the update and then it asks for permision to start. I accept and instead or starting i get that message.

Would be nice to know if i can fix it because otherwise I'll just reinstall it, I would really like to have it working tonight...
