Global patch question sorry. [SOLVED] Empty Global patch question sorry. [SOLVED]

Post by Guest Mon 13 Apr 2020, 06:19

I'm so sorry if this is obvious but I have spent nearly 4 hours trying to find a definite answer to my question and couldn't find it.

Now I have sims4 installed up to strangerville using the old way (copying files into game folder) and I need to download the rest using the new global patch way (with direct links)

There is a part in the installation guide that says (if you're not keeping up with the downloads this is for you!) Which is exactly what I want but then the very first step of the guide is to download and install the base game??
What am I supposed to do here? Delete everything then download the base game again then follow the instructions??

Or should I apply the patch to the game version I have already then download only what I want?

I'm terribly sorry if this is a stupid question but I really need help

Hello and welcome to the G4TW Forums @Samar148,

This statement here:

Does NOT contradict this other statement here:

Samar148 wrote:Which is exactly what I want but then the very first step of the guide is to download and install the base game??

So the answer is, no: you of course don't have to re-install the base game. I could indeed have left it out, but I decided to re-release it because the old release was done by the old Admin, and uses a weird custom-installer. The "new" base game is simpler in that regard, in that you just have to extract a folder from the archive file.

There have been many problems with the old custom-installer over the years, which was another reason for me to do the step.

Yes, it may not be necessary for you to grab the basegame again. But I also thought that the game *might* attract some other newer players, who are more conscious about the components they want to have installed.
