Sims 3 freezing on my laptop
Hello, I'm new to this, but I want to thank everyone here for all that you do. You give some great assistance and advice, and it has helped me through so far.
I have a few of the Sims 3 bought games and I have downloaded a few expansions. For about a month everything was working perfectly for me, but the past few days the game freezes about every minute. I usually just click on another speed and it goes back to normal for a minute, and continues that way. I have read somewhere looking at other questions about this, that someone asked if it was a laptop. I have a laptop, so is there something different I can do to possibly solve this problem?

I applied the fix immediately after the downloads, and it worked great up until a few days ago.

Re: Sims 3 freezing on my laptop
I've been using mods/cc since then also. Everything worked fine. I downloaded the Twallan's Master Controller mod, then I started to see a difference in the game. So I deleted it, no change, then reinstalled all the games, then copied my backup over. Still no change. Now I'm stuck dealing with the freezing.

Hello,
Please try this:
1. Go to My Documents\Electronic Arts\
2. You'll see a folder called The Sims 3 .
3. Drag & drop this folder to your Desktop and remove it from Documents.
4. Start the game and see if it works now.
Good luck!

Re: Sims 3 freezing on my laptop
Thanks, gonna give it a try now. I'll let you know how it goes.
//EDIT
I just tried it, but when I started playing everything got lost, I have
to start over again. Is it lost for good, or is there something I can
do to get it back? I did not back it up, before I tried.

Hello,
What did you do with the folder Admin is talking about? If you dropped it on your desktop as Admin suggests, your save games are there. If you didn't drag&drop it on the desktop, but deleted it right away, you may be able to salvage your save games from the recycle bin if it hasn't been emptied yet.
The idea of this method is letting the game think its a fresh install so the The Sims 3 folder and all its files are recreated by the game, so if any of them happened to be corrupt, that is now fixed. Also, it effectively takes all of your mods/cc out of the game in case any of them are creating the problem.

Re: Sims 3 freezing on my laptop
So maybe that's what happened. I did exactly as instructed, drag and drop. And the game started over. But all the worlds I was currently working on, i.e. legacy, asylum, they're gone. And as you said the mods/cc are gone also.

Hello,
But if you copied the folder to your desktop (or any other location on your pc) you should be able to get your save games. You'd have to copy the saves folder to the new The Sims 3 folder the game created after you started the game.

Re: Sims 3 freezing on my laptop
I tried that, but I think the problem might have been, I had an extra The Sims 3 folder inside The 3 folder. So by the time I figured that out, I thought it best to just start anew. Thank you for all the help. I truly appreciate it and everything else you all do.
