Problem with Sims 3 patch

So I was applying the ultimate fix to my Sims game, but whenever I patch the game with 10.29 (the download from the launcher doesn't work so I'm using the manual patch) the game doesn't get patched. The installer opens and goes through the installation process and everything, and it tells me that the installation was successful, but whenever I open the game the launcher still shows the original game version. I've tested and confirmed that it's still the original version and not the patch version. Any ideas?

When I try to open the game however, it shows that I have installed an unofficial game modification that doesn't match the current version of Sims 3. It still lets me play, but warns of significant bugs and, when it opens, it just goes to the load screen and doesn't progress at all after 5 minutes (at which point I gave up).

Please download and apply the current Ultimate Fix, updated on the 25th of January, but DO NOT UPDATE TO V1.31 WHEN PROMPTED TO!
Stick to v1.29 for now.
