Oh man. I can't pick just one! I don't think I'd be able to go back to just using the base game, it'd just take away so many options.. Plus a lot of the base game clothes and hairstyles suck. XD

Ok I'll start then, my choice is Pets. I've been hoping for Pets ever since The Sims 3 was released. Even more so because at some point in the distant past when The Sims (original) Unleashed was released, I read an article from Maxis where they said they wished they had done pets with the original release.
When The Sims 2 was released, I was disappointed that there were no pets in the base game. Of course soon after that I learned that The Sims is mostly about making money on expansions, so when The Sims 3 was released I didn't expect pets, but I've been waiting for the expansion ever since.
Since the most ever users online in a single day was on the day Pets was released, I suspect Pets is the overall favourite for most players

I think, if I had to go with just one, it's a tie between showtime and generations. I love all the actual gameplay changes there are with those two.
I still remember when I got late night though. That was probably a close second to the happiness of getting the base game for christmas the year before, so in a way late night has a special spot, being my first real expansion pack for any of the sims games.
