sims 3 crashes. [SOLVED]

hi guys, i have recently installed sims 3 world adventures and sims 3 generations, when i was at champs les sims after im done playing i got error code 12, and i read that it could be solved if i saved it every 20 mins when i play the game, so now when i tried to replay the game (because of the error code 12) it crashes , just a few mins at champs les sims and it crashes, (sims 3 has stopped working and so on) why does it happen? can it be solved?

Hello,

Maybe your save game has become or is becoming corrupted. Error 12 does that if it happens often.
More information about save errors can be found here.
You will know if your save is corrupted, by going to the saves folder, and having a look at your save game. If it has the .bad extension, you can attempt to recover it by dragging and dropping the bad one to your desktop, and renaming the .backup one to yoursavegame.sims3.
You may have lost some progress, but usually not much.

Hello,

That is possible. It came up because you mentioned error code 12.
Does the same thing happen with another save game?
If it does, have a look here.

my brother played it earlier but nothing happens, no crashes, he can save the game fine, just mine when i played it, it got stuck and that u know when click the play button, normally the EA thing shows up and that all the diamonds thing shows up, now it didnt just went straight to the loading screen

Is your brother using a different save game?
If he is, have a look at the saves folder to see if yours is corrupted. It can be recognized as such by a .bad extension.

Ok, are you still getting the error 12? You may want to consider moving your population to a new town as explained here.
Using error trap can delay it, but eventually your save game will probably become corrupted.

Hello,

Ok, I still think your save game may be starting to corrupt. As you play a certain town for a number of generations, a lot of junkfiles start to accumulate which makes the game slow, can crash the game or corrupt the save game.
Errortrap can help a little, but eventually your save file will become too large.
Porter allows you to move everyone without loosing relationships between the sims in your neighbourhood. Documentation for the mod can be found here.

Hello,

That depends, how much do you have now? If you have 4 or more, upgrading wont make a difference since The Sims 3 is a 32-bit application so it can't use more than 3.7 at most.

Rightclick on "my computer" and have a look at "properties". The first screen that comes up shows you that kind of system information.

Hello,

Well, I can tell you from experience that that doesn't necessarily mean anything. I have 1 GB RAM and I've only seen error code 12 once. I've played the sims 3 on this computer since its release.
According to my various sources, this can occur on any computer regardless of its specs.

You can try to save more often, "save as" in stead of save and limit your play time to say, 2 hours at most after which you quit and restart the game.
You can also increase your virtual memory, that may help a little.

Hello,

It cleans up save games, records and traps errors.
It's quite simple to use. If you already have mods, simply place it mods\packages.
If you don't have that folder, it's easily created as explained here.
After putting the package in that folder, you're done. Errortrap works without your input. You do have to redownload it when you patch your game.

Hello,

Errortrap can prevent error code 12, but again, it's no guarantee.
from the same developer, you can try the "mover" mod. I've not used it myself, but I imagine it won't cause any conflicts.
