"Unable to start game -- Service initialization failed (0x024e424f)"

Okay, this is my procedure:

>Installed base game through retail copy
>Updated it to 1.29
>Installed pirated store content (all of it) -- Content works fine, I was using it before I tried the "fix"
>Installed pirated World Adventures (All expansions and content from this point on are pirated and work, as I mentioned I tried this stuff before using the "fix")
>Updated through launcher to current ver
>Installed High-End Loft Stuff
>Updated
>Installed Ambitions
>Updated
>Etc etc etc for every expansion up to Master suite
>Start game up before applying "fix"
>Boots up fine, only problem is the disc check (which is to be expected)
>Apply the crack, carefully, step by step, doublechecking each step every time
>Go to start the game through launcher -- "Unable to start game -- Service initialization failed (0x024e424f)"
>Attempt to start it directly through TS3.exe or TS3W.exe -- "Unable to start game -- Service initialization failed (0x024e424f)"

This is my 6th attempt to get this to work now. I have used every form of google-fu I know to find a solution, but I have yielded no results.

I'm beginning to think my only option is to... *shudder* BUY the expansions.

I DO have mods, but I removed them the first time I saw this message. (It didn't help.)

Edit: I just noticed, like 4 of the expansions I have are at a higher patch level than indicated in the Jan 25th fix update. Would that affect it? (2.17.2, 3.13.1, 5.8.1, 6.5.1, 7.3.2)

I just tried "TS3W.exe" again this morning, and it boots up just fine. "TS3.exe" is still dead, though.
This tells me there's something wrong with the base game "fix", not the crack itself.



....Aw crap, doesn't the launcher's CC installer run using that? Does that mean I'll have to use one of the buggy(er), poorly coded fan-made installers now?

If you have an expansions, you should, indeed, start via the TS3W.exe - if you don't want to use the launcher -, instead of the TS3.exe .

I don't understand what you mean. In order to apply CC, you don't need the launcher.

Nevermind, I just assumed you did because last time I had this happen, it wouldn't let me install or uninstall any CC either -- same error.

How did you install the CC?

All CC I installed before using the "fix" was installed using the launcher. After using the "fix" I could no longer install or uninstall anything because the moment it tried booting up the installer (NOT the launcher, launcher worked fine) I would get that error referenced above.

Then I tried TSR launcher (which apparently installs them using the default sims 3 installer)... Error.

Try re-downloading the CC and see if it makes a difference.

im having the same problem just installed sims 3 generations in i replaced the crack files and im getting the msgs can someone help me fix this
