Running into problems with Sim City 4. [SOLVED]

Hey,

I see you guys are pretty good with helping out with beginners and people who are unsure of what they're doing and I am one of those people.

Dispite having already managed to run a version of sim city before i accidentally deleted it and am now struggling to make the torrent work ... this is what im doing and any help would be greatly appriciated.

1. I downloaded the sim city 4 torrent through a magnet link using utorrent
2. i use winrar to extract CD1 and CD2
3. i open CD1 and mount SC4DELUXE1.mdf with power iso
4. i go to G: drive and run the program
5. i click install - it seems to install (i insert the serial when prompted)
6. it asks for disk 2 to be inserted
7. i mount CD2>SIMCITY 4 DELUXE EDITION CD2.img using power iso
8. i double click the disk drive from my computer then click "ok" from the warning message in step 6
9. it seems to continue installing
10. it asks for disk 1 to be inserted
11. i remount disk 1 and start things up
12. i click play from the 1st menu screen

at this stage i get a warning message
"please insert the correct CD-ROM, select OK and restart application"
the game then seems to close and i am at a loss of what to do.

I hope given you enough information to lend me a hand and apologise if my inexperience causes frustration. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

It looks like you overlooked the crack (I assume?).
See if there's a crack folder in the files you downloaded, and apply it to your install directory.

I dont seem to have a crack folder.

I have CD1 and CD2 and once extracted via winrar:

CD1 consists of ...
- SC4DELUXE1.mdf
- SC4DELUXE1.mds
- serial (this is a notepad file)

CD2 consists of...
- serial (notepad)
- SIMCITY 4 DELUXE EDITION CD2.CCD
- SIMCITY 4 DELUXE EDITION CD2.cue
- SIMCITY 4 DELUXE EDITION CD2.img
- SIMCITY 4 DELUXE EDITION CD2.sub

i must admit i dont really know what the other folders mean - i just chose the largest file from each cd to mount using power iso as i figured that was the file with all the data.

is the torrent file perhaps incomplete?

Hello,

Mount disk 1, and find it your list of drives (my computer). Right click it, and choose open. Now you'll find the crack folder Smile

I can verify, there is nothing missing from the torrent, and this game works perfectly.

hey guys,

i couldnt find the #crack folder and i kinda gave up and started again from scratch.

i redownloaded a fresh copy of the torrent and i can now work it perfectly and the crack folder is present. i can only assume i made some form of error to create my previous problem - thanks for trying to help.
