The Sims 3 Ambition won't play

Hi, i would like some help I'm using a legit copy of The Sims 3 and i downloaded this copy of sims to my sims 3 it installed great and everything and i followed the instructions but when i go to start the game i get "Error: your The Sims 3 base game is incompatible with the current Sims 3 Expansion Pack. Please update your game via the game launcher." and the version of the expansion goes to Version: 0.0.0.0 and you can't click on anything to update the window then goes to window is not responding and does not shut down. I installed the fix from your website and i still get the same problem.
Can you help me please?

I was having the same problem myself. After that happened I went in the .rar folder (wherever you extracted it to) and used the "Sims3Launcher.exe" in Sims Ambitions[your extracted folder] > Game > Bin. It's worked fine for me from there. I'm not sure if there's any difference to them or the one I had originally, but now even my original launcher shortcut works.

Also, just to cover bases, the error message just means the game just wants you to update itself. So if you get the launcher to respond, go to the "Updates" tab and install the latest update. :]

Thanks Mgcypher it worked up until i started the game...i'm not getting the error and when i tried to update it wouldn't let me update then when i try to start the game it loads then i get "It looks like you have installed an unofficial game mod that does not match your current version of The Sim 3. We recommend that you either uninstall these game mod or get updated versions of them." What am i doing wrong now? How can i get the update?

Well if it's not making you get the update then that's for the better I suppose. You could try downloading it manually from the Sims3 website, maybe it will install then. If not, I have no clue. :\

However, as far as the "Game mods" error, I get the same thing whenever it starts to load. It may be due to downloads I have but I doubt it. Whenever it pops up and shrinks the loading window, I just click continue and click back to the Sims 3 window and it loads fine. So far the only problem I still have is I can't load any of my previous families, but new families work well.

Also a recap on the error, if you do have downloads, a hack that changes game behavior (removing the censor, making the menu bubbles say something different, etc) it could just be whoever created it made it back for an old patch version, and this one changed some code it used so now it won't work. The creator just needs to update some of the files then you redownload. But again, if you don't have any downloads ignore this bit. :]

Yea it's working now but i cant update it like you said i just click continue and it works......when i tried updating it says update invalid file so i just forgot about it and just play it without updating....

Glad I could help a little. Do a search later on about the "Invalid File," I know I've seen topics on it somewhere.

i did some other guy is getting the same problem so he's trying to install the fast lane stuff to see if that would help update the game. but thanks for your help....i'm just glad to play the game ^-^
