Expansion installion issue with online bought base game. [SOLVED]

Hi, I bought the base game on Steam a while back I just downloaded the pets expansion and when I start the install it doesn't recognize that I have the base game. The exact message reads "This product requires an installed copy of The Sims 3. Please install The Sims 3 before installing this product." Any idea on how to fix this? Thanks :3

For some reason the Steam version doesn't work with other kinds of installations of The Sims 3.

Two options, download from here or via Origin.
