What Antivirus you're using [Let's the War begin] Empty What Antivirus you're using [Let's the War begin]

Post by Narong30 Sat 23 Jul 2011, 11:00

Hello all,

Hope you'll having fun with your family and friend.

Back to our topic, I'm using Norton 360 V5. I do like this antivirus because :

1) Lite
2) Very fast database update. [Fastest among all]
3) Windows 7 friendly [Previously I was using the Kasperksy Internet Security 2011, but it always caused BSOD problem for me. And I've try the Microsoft Security Essential. I do like it, but I need to accept that it's a free version and the free version will not be good as paid version.
4) Idle scan, It'll auto scan when you away from your computer. And delete the tracking cookie.

That's all. I hope you'll can share something with me.

Hi there,

I used to use Kaspersky, but now I've a G-Data license, I don't want anything else. It's awesome. No heavy load on the system, no continuous annoying pop-ups, 2 anti-virus databases (!) and (very) easy to use.
Though the system scans are pretty slow.

I'm using two AV actually. I use windows essentials as my primary while I use Avast as a backup. Avast watches all data transfer for me, which is good. Also with avast if I do get a virus or malware I can run it before I even launch the operating system.

Both of the AV I use are free. You should take a look at them.

I'm not at home, but I don't think I need to use an AV really.
a) I only download music from trustworthy sites.
b) I never accept any thing from any one.
c) I only visit the sites I trust.
But of course, an AV is really handy.

AVG here, I'm also familiar with Avast. Why AVG? My father (who is in IT) recommended it for my pc.
I never find anything on my pc that I shouldn't, I get the occasional notification for a crack or keygen but that's it.

Hello,

Yes, they used to tell me the same a few years ago, but the thing is that AVG has become too commercial. The only thing you'll see is advertisement for the full version. They misuse their popularity (AVG was one of the first good free AV out there) now. There are better alternatives now. One of them is Avast! for sure.

Back around 2005, I had installed Norton and Bit Defender at the same time.. That didn't work out so well.. They kind of fought to the death.. They had kept deleting files from eachother's install folder until Norton crashed and could not run anymore.. Lol, I stick with a single freeware at a time now.. Right now I'm using Comodo Antivirus..

I had never noticed that AVG had gotten so commercial but I guess I'm immune for ads lol. I never remember what they are about anyway lol. Maybe I'll have to check out Avast, downloading AVG has become such a habit for me over the years.

A good example to show the bad about 2 AV on same system. But some people will use Malwarebyte pro with AVG or Avira. It look very good though.

I used the trial version of Norton, which was installed on my notebook when I bought it, then I swiched to a cracked version of Nod32, which worked perfectly (until I had to change it about a month ago because of a version update). Now I'm using Avira, it seems to be quite good, but occasionally gives notifications for cracks. AH! I also tried avast!, but after I installed it on the other pc, the OS crashed and I get crazy trying to fix it. Now I completely hate Avast!

Hi there,

Why is it that really everyone loves Nod32? I don't like it at all, lol, it's too "simple" for me.
