Error on Startup. [SOLVED] Empty Error on Startup. [SOLVED]

Post by Guest Tue 01 Jan 2013, 07:59

Hello,

I am posting this as essentially a last resort since I have tried just about everything I can possibly think of to make this game work. I am currently (and have been after numerous installations and reinstallations) the "Unable to start game Service initialization failed (0x0175dcbb)" error when trying to start the game.

I believe (from my own knowledge and from reading other posts on here) that the issue lies with the fact that I previously had an "Ultimate edition" torrent for the sims 3 installed. Once that proceeded to not work.. I googled the error and was directed to your site. I then downloaded all of the games through your torrents (after uninstalling the ultimate edition and cleaning my registry with CCleaner) and installed them with the instructions on this site (including applying the manual patch).

Some information:

I have a 64 bit windows 7 system

Installed games:

Base game
Ambitions
Diesel Stuff
Fast Lane
Generations
Late Night
Master Suite Stuff
Outdoor Living Stuff
Pets
Seasons
Showtime
Supernatural
Town Life Stuff
World Adventures

I'm not really sure what else to try and am hoping someone can help. Thank you Very Happy

Try these steps, in a drop-through fashion (stop once you find the step that works):

- In the base game's installation folder, make sure the modification dates of the TS3W.exe file and TSLHost.dll are 1 November 2012. If they are not you need to re-download the Ultimate Fix (see URL below) and copy the files in the "# Crack" folder to your base game's installation folder.

Ultimate Fix: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t752-the-sims-3-ultimate-fix-should-fix-most-of-your-problems

- In the base game's installation folder, right click on the file named "Sims3LauncherW.exe" (the W isn't a typo), then click on the "Details" tab. The File version should be 0.2.0.190 - if it's not you need the manual patch, then you'll need to re-do the the Ultimate Fix.

Manual Patch: http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownloads/u/f/sims/sims3/patches/TS3_1.42.130.0190xx_update.exe

- Open up My Documents\Electronic Arts\ and rename the folder named "The Sims 3" to "The Sims 3.bak" .. if this step does not work it is safe to rename "The Sims 3.bak" back to "The Sims 3"

- Use my tool to check for registry issues. If you open the program and anything has a checkmark on the left hand side, and there is a red box (see the screenshots in the thread) then it needs to be fixed.

Registry Helper: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t8929-registry-helper

First off, thank you for the responses.

I tried the above steps and none of them got rid of the error.

With the registry helper, Katy Perry's Sweet Treats (which was in the ultimate edition, but is something I uninstalled and never redownloaded) has red boxes and a checkmark. So I unchecked it and there was a popup box that asked if I wanted to remove the files from the registry for that expansion. I clicked yes. Still getting the error. I tried clicking fix, but still no success.

I seem to be unable to make changes to the registry and have them be permanent. There is no ergcRegPAth or CD Key in the registry helper for my base game and the SKU is 7 while WA SKU is 2. However, when I attempt to change the 7 to match the 2, fix the lack of CD key and then export and apply the registry changes, they seem to revert back... I'm not sure if that paragraph makes any sense.

But, look! Pictures!

There seems to be an issue with the latest release of my Registry Helper, that I'm just now coming to be aware of. To partly confirm this, are you on a 64bit system?

Give me 5 minutes to recompile and we'll see if I'm correct in my theory.

Edit: Test this one and let me know if the issue with saving is fixed: http://www.filedropper.com/sims3registryhelper

If I'm doing this correctly, it still doesn't seem to be saving the information. If I go and make the changes and then export and apply the registry file and then reopen the editor, everything is reverted to it's "incorrect" state.

What about the "Fix" button? Exporting probably won't work so well on a 64bit system because the program is running in 32bit mode, so the paths in the registry are slightly wrong (there should be a "Wow6432Node" after "Software" that will be missing).

Edit: Now that I'm done with the save game manager I may revisit this issue and permanently fix it, but it'll be a couple days before I'll have the time to look into it.

If you mean making the changes and then clicking the fix button, I have already tried that and it's not working either. Would it be possible to manually add in the Wow6432Node to the exported reg file and then apply the changes?

It would be, you can do a "Replace All" using these for your find and replace strings:

Find: Software\
Replace With: Software\Wow6432Node\

Ok I did the above, saved the file and tried to apply them to the registry. After selecting "yes" to make changes, I get the following error:

Cannot import C:\Users\Desktop\Sims3.reg: The specified file is not a registry script. You can only import binary registry files from within the registry editor.

I also tried importing the file directly from Regedit, but I get the same message. Seems the file is not in the correct format once I manually edit it. Do I need to save it as some other file type?

Nope. I'm not sure what the issue is with the tool, but we'll fix it another way. Run this command:

regedit /E "%userprofile%\Desktop\Sims3.reg" HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Sims

It'll put a file on your desktop called Sims3.reg, either edit it and manually fix the issues then double click it, or paste it here and I'll fix them and reply with text you can paste into that .reg file to get it all fixed.

I tried doing it myself, but wasn't sure how/what to add for the missing ergcregpath and/or if I needed to add a CD key for the base game. So here is the text (I already deleted the Katy Perry info and changed the base game SKU).

Shouldn't need the ErgcRegPaths, but here they are:

Spoiler:

This also:
- Removes duplicate keys
- Adds cd keys for everything, no need to change them (they'll be blank, but nothing checks for the CD keys as long as your game is cracked properly)

Now do I need to paste this info and replace what's currently in the reg file? Or just add it to the end?

Either way, but replacing would probably be best so if anyone else has a look at it they wouldn't be confused by adding values/keys then removing them.

When trying to apply the changes after copying and pasting the text from your post above, I get the "The specified file is not a registry script" popup again.

Have you tried playing the game without those keys? They're not needed, so if you're still having an issue it's not because of those.

Yes, I try to start the game after each attempted fix. Still getting the same error I've had from the start. Also, launcher will not start either.

TS3W gives me : Service initialization failed (0x0175dcbb)

and launcher says : "There was an error during startup, please see log for more details".

Yep, tried everything. Date is correct and renaming the folder didn't help.

Send me a private message with your partner id and password (they'll both be on the left hand side) and I'll take a look to see if we can figure out what the issue is.

Edit: Fixed in teamviewer - blackbox previous install put registry keys all over the place including the 64bit area of the registry. Also realized error with Registry Helper is that it was writing registry keys to the invalid locations if they were already present (I'm going to completely re-write that tool, I don't like this x86-only stuff anyway). Thanks Waffle for helping me realize this, and testing the one I posted earlier.
