Update of the sims 3 failed, setup is unable to continue.[SOLVED]

Hi

I have the original sims 3 game. I downloaded the sims 3 pets expansion game and it works fine. However, I tried installing another download - the sims 3 supernatural and this time, a message pops out "Update of the sims 3 failed, setup is unable to continue".

My base game is already updated to the 1.42 version that you have posted. I am not sure why I am still asked to update the game?

Just to be sure, please re-do step 2: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly (RE-DOWNLOAD the manual patch and then re-apply it)

After applying the patch, try installing Supernatural again.
Also, did you download your base game via Origin?

Okay, I managed to install the supernatural. But, when I tried to load the game, nothing happens. The game does not open. Should I download the ultimate fix to copy and overwrite the game?

And no, I dont think I downloaded the base game via origin.
