Sims 3 Installation on Windows 8 Empty Sims 3 Installation on Windows 8

Post by Guest Sun 21 Jul 2013, 17:27

Hi, I'm trying to install Sims 3 (with all expansions) on Windows 8.

I downloaded the latest games from this website (Sims 3 - Pets - downloaded the fixed version). I also have the manual update patch and the Ultimate Fix.

I installed the base game mounting the .iso files and all the expansions running the setup file. I skiped all "# Crack" folders. After the installation of all games I noticed some said that I should edit some register entries. Do I really need to do that? Even with this Ultimate Fix ?

The game asks for the disc when I try to play. I can't even install The Sims 3 base game and play (using the crack on that game).

Suggestions?

Edit: Yes, I followed this: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly

Do you still get the error when you re-apply the manual patch and then only use the two files from the #crack folder in the Ultimate fix ?

Try this. And you need to copy the two files from the #crack of the Ultimate fix (ignore the other content) to C:\Program files(x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin. Replace the existing files.

The thing is, if you insist you installed and applied the patch and the Ultimate fix correctly, then there aren't that many alternatives left to solve this. You might want to upload a screenshot here of where you pasted the two files from the #crack folder of the fix (use the "Host an image" button to get the URL of the picture, then use "Insert image" to paste the picture).

If you have the so-called "No-CD mod" installed, then please remove that.

Also, you might add the filepath of the crack files (in the base game location) to the "exceptions" of your anti-virus software.

And about the message saying you "need to edit registry entries" (?!), I would also suggest, if nothing else works, to un-install all of the games which are not from G4TW, and get the G4TW versions from here: http://www.games4theworld.org/downloads.html

And about the message saying you "need to edit registry entries" (?!), I would also suggest, if nothing else works, to un-install all of the games which are not from G4TW, and get the G4TW versions from here: *

All my games are form G4TW, downloaded from that link. If you don't know what registry entries I'm talking about, you might wanna read the "# Installation Notes" of G4TW Sims 3 - World Adventures. It says:
Code:
***TORRENT BY: Games4theworld***

The Sims 3: World Adventures Expansion - Installation Guide

1. First be sure you've Installed The Sims 3 from ® Games4theworld:
*

2. Now open the Start menu. Type 'regedit' in the search box and press [ENTER]. Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sims\The Sims 3   and double-click on 'SKU'. Change the shown
number to 2 and press 'OK'. Close the Register Editor.

I've run the manual patch. I've got the last version ( v. 1.55.4.022017 ). Also I pasted the .exe and .dll in "Ultimate Fix" > "# Crack" into: C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Os Sims 3\Game\Bin which is the Portuguese version of the path.

Any ideas?

First of all, I suggest you stay friendly.

The fact that you get the "insert disc" prompt has absolutely nothing to do with the editing of the registry for the "World Adventures" expansions. If you really get problems with that, the message would read "wrong region code" or something similar.

And if your base game is in the .ISO file format (like you said in the opening post), is that really from "Games4TheWorld" ? I actually thought that The Sims 3 downloads are all .RAR files, but OK.

Otherwise, I (and Shamrock) have said everything, I guess. But good luck !

I'm not being unfriendly, I'm sorry if you misunderstood anything I say as being unfrindly. I'm just trying to give has much information as I can.

I'm pretty sure inside de Base Game .rar come 2 .iso files, but I'll re-download it and check.

After that I'll uninstall all games and try again. If it still doesn't work I guess the only way is to restore my PC to factory settings and try again.

OK, if you really can't get the Ultimate fix working, then there might be a (theoretical) alternative:

First, make sure to do a clean un-install of all your Sims 3 games, then re-boot your computer. After that you can re-install the games, but don't use any cracks !

Instead, read this here: http://www.games4theworlddownloads.org/guides.html  (click on "How to install .package files").

Then, download and install this here (what I mentioned before): http://nraas.wikispaces.com/NoCD

You need to put the mod (a ".package" file) into My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Mods/Packages. And now try starting the game.

//EDIT

I forgot to post a link for "clean un-installing": http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:TS3_Uninstall

Sims 3 Installation on Windows 8 Empty Re: Sims 3 Installation on Windows 8

Post by Guest Tue 06 Aug 2013, 15:10

Carlos, thanks a lot for your time and patiance! Actually I didn't that solution because I have been busy with some stuff.

Yesterday I was installing a software and needed to copy a new file to the folder of installation and I found what must be the problem. For some reason I couldn't copy any files to Program Files folder. It looked like it copied, but it didn't. My account is admin, so I really don't get. It was really awkward because it asked me to replace (in Sims case) and showed the graphic has it was copying the files. Noob of myself not looking to file sizes to confirm it was copied, but if it showed the graphic I wouldn't expect this...

This problem is solved by now has I formated my computer and I'll install Sims 3 today. Pretty sure it will work. Thanks!
