Official Sims 3 question

I have the official Sims 3 Base and the Ambitions expansion.
Will I get any problems installing other expansions knowing I have the original Base game?

Okay so I tried installing pets, and I cant because it says I dont have the base game?... Help?

Where did you install the base game from? (If it's steam, that's the problem)

Yep its from steam

Steam won't recognize any external data for its games, sadly. You can mod, but you can't add on expansions, not even if you had bought them. There's a couple options.

1. You can just play what you have through steam
2. You can download the base game from g4tw, and go from there
3. You can contact steam, they usually are willing to give people the activation code, so they can go through origin.
