HELP "existing installed instances detected" Sims 3 Pets Empty HELP "existing installed instances detected" Sims 3 Pets

Hi,
once I opened up the the .rar file, read the instructions and started with the .exe installation setup file,
the first thing that appeared in the installation window was "existing installed instances detected" and it told me to select a directory for a file or game to change/replace it with..... SOMEONE HELP...

Hello,

Did you install "The Sims 3" sometime in the past already? Have a look at this article here: http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:TS3_Uninstall

I recommend deleting the registry keys manually, by the way.

I currently have the Sims 3 base game installed on my computer- fully functioning. I just installed it on this laptop today for the first time.
I wanted to install Pets as an expansion.
Am I supposed to uninstall my base Sims 3 game or something? What do you mean by did you install it sometime in the past already?

What I meant was did you have The Sims 3 installed on that computer in the past - and then un-installed it ?

Messages like these normally pop-up when a previous game/software wasn't properly un-installed (=there are still remnants of it on the computer).

And did you download your games from "Games4theWorld" ?

No I bought the Sims 3 Disk and just installed it. I haven't uninstalled at all.

Ok, please type the Windows key (on the bottom of the keyboard, with the sign) and the R key together. Then type "regedit", and accept permissions.
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Sims.
What folders do you have there?
What Sims 3 games are currently installed?
