Updating the game (I think I did something stupid)

So, a popup came onto the launcher asking if I wanted to update the game, and, without thinking, I did the update. But then when I went to click play, of course, it said I needed to insert the disk. So, I applied the fix, and it's still not working. Do I really need to uninstall and reinstall again?

have you downloaded sims 3 generations yet? I've installed every game for the sims 3 and updated them to the latest version and have only applied the generations crack to the sims 3 folder and it works just fine and dandy for me

No. I wasn't planning on getting Generations just yet. I still have the old fix (before the generations update) saved.

Oh, and also, I can't apply the crack to the basegame folder because I have a retail version of basegame.

I'm afraid not...

I have it downloading now. It went down to 10 hours, and I let it go while I was sleeping. Only 3 hours left. My internet/bandwidth is being stupid.
