Have Base game, none of the expansions detect it? [SOLVED]

Yeah, this one has been an on-going issue ever since I purchased the base game and the first two expansions from steam a while back. Before that I was using everything from here with no problems.

Now apparently, regardless of where I have 'The Sims 3' folder, none of the expansions find the base game when I try to install. Error is in the file attachment. Apparently not, apparently the small .png file is too large. :/

Yes, I've read the Ultimate fix instructions, yes, I've followed them exactly, its how I got everything to work before I bought the game, the Ultimate Fix (and how to install correctly) does not address this kind of issue, e.g. Your excellent versions not working with purchased versions. Help would be appreciated, virtual cookies are offered as a reward.

Yes, it is.

Then that is the problem. Steam games and disk games (like the cracked ones) are not compatible...
Sorry, you'll need to install a pirated game of the one you have on Steam!

No fair! That totally ruins my day. I know, not anyone's fault, but it is still sad news!

So there is no work-around for this? None at all?

Well, here's what I think best: uninstall your Steam game, keep the details if you want to log online, and install the pirated copy.
Your game will be the same!

Definitely an idea. I might do that, though for now I'll just grab what I need from here, since Steam has its own installation directory I shouldn't have to worry too much.

You'll have to go with just the Steam game in the meantime...

Mhmm. Not that big of a deal, I mean, 50gb+ later, I'll have the pirated version and all of the expansions/stuff packs. I remember when games used to be only a few mb large.
