Are the expansion packs compatible with bought base game?

I have looked around on the forum to see whether anyone has already answered this but I haven't found an answer yet. I've bought the base game in the store but I want the expansion packs as well. Now I was wondering whether you MUST download the base game off of here in order for the expansion packs off of this website to work (and uninstall the one I already have installed) or are they compatible with the bought base game as well? If so, are there any special steps I should take in order for it to work? I apologize for making a whole new thread if this is a question that has already been asked frequently. I just couldn't find it or I didn't look hard enough.

Don't fret too much about making this thread.  It's better to be safe than sorry.

To answer your questions, it is just fine that you have bought the base-game and all of our expansions on Games4theWorld will work on it!  If your game has to be run through the program Origin, the only difference is that your base-game's files will be under this path:  Program Files\Origin Games\The Sims 3\.
Rather than: Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3.

If you decide to download some/all of our expansions, please follow the steps here: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly.  If you follow those steps word for word, your game will run without a hitch.

This is off topic from my original question but when I try to visit the site games4theworld.org in order to download the expansion packs I get directed to a page that indicates the site is down due to maintenance but this has been posted 2 days ago (25th okt 2013). Is it usual for the site to be down this long or is this just me?

And umm, to be honest, I'm not sure if it's normally like that.  Haha.  I've been waiting for it to come back online, too.  There's more than likely a lot of necessary maintenance going on on the site, so hang tight, it should be up soon enough!
