Sims 2 Crashing..

I've installed the Sims 2 and it worked just fine over the last couple weeks. Last night I went to put a house down in an available space and for whatever reason, it froze up. I minimize the game and there's a box that pops up and says "This application has crashed. This application will now close." It happens every time I load the game now. Anyone know how I should fix this?

My use of The Sims 2 has become a little vague (I DO plan on installing it on my PC again soon, however!).  Do you have any custom content or mods within your game that you happen to be using?  If so, I'd suggest you attempt to load the game without any CC and see if you get the same error.

I don't know much about this game, but try running it as an Administrator.
