Unable to start. Please re-install the base game

Hello!
I've got a new computer, so I transfered my The Sims 3 base game and expansions from the old computer to the new one. But when I start the launcher, it gives me this: "Unable to start. Please re-install the base game".
In an unsuccessful attempt of fixing this, I copied the game registers to the new computer, but it still gives me the same error. Is there any way to get the game working without re-installing it?

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear that, but the easiest solution in your case is a proper re-installation of your Sims 3 games.

What you can do is that you transfer your "user data" from the old computer to the new one. If you go, in your old computer, to C:/Users/(your username)/My Documents and copy the whole folder "Electronic Arts" to your new computer, then you should have restored your savefiles, mods and any other custom content. Note, you should paste the folder in "My documents", on your new computer; so in the same location as in the old one.

You should remove all "program folders" that you copied to your new computer. As for the registry entries, one possibility could be that you use a registry cleaner (google, for example, for "CCleaner") to remove the registry entries. If you re-install the games properly, these registry entries could cause problems.
