WHY DOES MY GAME LAG SO MUCH

It takes over an HOUR just to load up the world and its weird bc Twinbrook takes longer than Isla Paraiso and its so annoying to have to sit there for so long to wait for the game to load. When it finally does it lags like nothing else I've ever seen.

My mods and .sims3packs are working perfectly on the plus side though. I used to have the sims 3 on my computer and it worked PERFECTLY. I lowered everything to LOW and I mean I just don't get it.

My macbook is a year old
8 gb ram
470 free space
I have over 140 mods
And about 200+ sims3packs
Ultimate fix put in for the third time
All expansions and stuff packs


When i used to have sims on this computer i had it just like i do now except my game was super super fast

I just want to play sims without waiting five minutes for the button to click.

Well, 140 mods seems a lot to me

Is it 470mb or 470giga or free space ? Don't forget that you have to leave, at least, 10% of free space on your hard drive.

You say it is exactly the same as your previous installation. There must be a difference between the two to have a different behavior. Are you using the same base game ?

I actually deleted a couple files and now I have about 513 gb left of free space. and when I said mods, i spoke wrongly, i meant i have 140 package files of custom content, whether its clothes, hair etc, not really actual mods. so sorry for the confusion! and they're different base games from different torrents. I can't find the original one i had before but that one was perfect and i accidentally deleted it like a couple months ago (how foolish). I even uninstalled World Adventures, Katy Perrys Sweet Treats, and Into the future, and Movie Stuff (even though I really wanted WA) to try to get it to work better and it didn't do anything. this is BEYOND frustrating.

Ok, so I took your problem to higher places and there is two possibles explanations.

- 120mods is bit too much on a Mac. Even if .packages are suppose to be faster, you'd eventually need to compact a bunch of them into one .package file - Mac ain't PC so 20 .package files are the most you should have for the good of your game
Now, before deleting everything, you might want and check if creators of those objects also made it in Sims3Pack
When they all first creating, they all did it in .package and had to switch to Sims3Pack.

- The only difference I see between your two installations is because of EA bad coding for mac. Until version 1.42, the game was fine on Mac. With 1.67 and the last 3 expansions, EA made a better code and it help us a bit.
I remember having a really good installation, working flawlessly. I had to uninstall the game and once it was back again, it wasn't the same.

I know this is really not a solution. Except emptying any cache file in your Documents > EA > Sims 3 folder ( except WorldCache !! ) and cutting down on .package file there's not much you can do. But you can have a lot more of Sims3Pack ( I once had 2000 …. oops ! )
The Sims won't take more than 4Gb of Ram even if you had an Octopus Mac Pro.

That's a lot of mods for your mac!
You can try compressing your .packages into one package with s3pe.

Easier for me is to get a window on the mac (use Parallel or book camp  and use the program. :]

If your problem persists, Go to your Sims 3 video settings and set all of the graphics settings to the lowest possible. It will have ok graphics but your game will run smoother.
Also, like Shamrock said, uninstall any mods you don't need.
