Trying to install ulitmate fix. No base game folder

I am trying to install the ultimate fix but when it comes to step 10, and i right click the sims 3 icon, it doesn't say 'show original file' only 'show package contents'. i thought that was odd but i continued, after going through all the steps, once i get to 'program files' i can't go any further. nothing is there. 
unistalling the game isn't an option, since all the original cd cases are hundreds of miles away in my parents garage. 
i have generations, late night, ambitions, seasons, pets, show time, university. i have no idea what to do.

You did fine, on mac it is Show Package Contents for the original game.

What if you click on an expansion ? Do you get "Show Original" ? You end in a folder with only the expansion's application but you can go back some folders and see if you get more folders after Program Files.

i clicked on Generations and followed all the steps (even the show original file) and the EA folder was in the Program folder. should i place the Ulitmatefix file there?

To put the fix :

- Right Click on The Sims 3 ( base game ) and choose Show Package Content
- Navigate to : Content > Resources > transgaming > c_drive > Program Files > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Game > Bin
- Keep a copy of the original files that you'll change

the base game doesn't have anything in the Program Files folder. 
Everywhere else does. 

Wow. This is strange.

I suggest you repair your permissions ( and while at it you can check the disk too ) -> in your Applications folder, there is an Utility folder, inside click on Disk Utility
Choose your hard drive and click on "repair permissions".

If that doesn't do it, I think you'll need to install the base game again.
You won't need to uninstall it, just install again. Overwriting it

Don't forget to update to 1.67
