Sims 3 keeps crashing. TRIED EVERYTHING
Hi everyone,
I have been a avid simmer since Sims 1 and have ALL the pc games...
So i recently had my PC serviced- like an annual check up - and i had to re-install my game (i have all the Sims 3 games) which took a lengthy amount of time but i see i have run into some major issues...
1. i could not go into C.A.S and select outfits as it just crashed to desktop. eventually i found how to fix it using Nraas MasterController Integration mod (this idea was found on Games4thewrold)
Now when i try loading Monte Vista world, i get into it, select a pre-made household and..... CRASH.
i have tried running a vanilla version and nothing.. i tired re-installing...nothing.
i have check, my pc is more than compatible-it is a custom built gaming specific pc- my game is fully up to date. so i am truly lost. i am testing other worlds as we speak so i will let you know if it happens in any other world.
any ideas????
i am downloading the sims 3 ultimate fix as well as the latest manual patch, is this a good idea??
Much appreciated!
***edit
Ok i think it is my Monte Vista... it was a bought copy --which i have to use the disk to download from the sims store.
Will a simple uninstall and re-download fix this problem???

Hello,
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t17208-sims-3-has-stopped-working#118442
Have a look at that post (by me) and try all the suggestions there. When you're done, re-start the game and play on. See if anything improved. Good luck !

Hello again,
No, no, please ignore the instructions inside the .pdf of the Ultimate fix; as I said, you should focus ONLY on this guide here, which is basically a shortened and simplified version.
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly
Next, continue with the other stuff, like the "DEP" and the "4 GB patch", and so on.

What I mentioned before is (usually) the default install location...so where did you install your games then ? You can actually change the default location during the install, but I hope you didn't do that ? It's better to keep the default location for simplicity.
Or did you buy the base game from Origin ? In that case, the base game location is in C:\Program files(x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 3\Game\Bin. Or did you get the game from Steam ?!

Re: Sims 3 keeps crashing. TRIED EVERYTHING
all my games where bought in our local store (BT Games). so it was not downloaded from Origin, and i didnt change the default location, i see in the normal C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts folder is all my Sims folders. but this was not because i changed it.

The problem now is...if you didn't change the "default" location, then the installer must have installed the game elsewhere - so do you remember where ? You can also go to "Computer" under Windows and press CTRL + F. Then, in the search mask, type in TS3W.exe and let the computer search for the bae game location. The search may take a while though...
Next, I have to ask that: are the games that you bought ORIGINAL (retail) games, or simply torrents that were burned to a DVD ?

Yes it is the original retail game, NOT torrent or Orgin download.
OK i ran the search for TS3W.exe
it came up with these 3 file locations... 2 are just AppCrash Reports though
C:\Users\Tami\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WER\ReportArchive (THis is just a CRASH REPORT)
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive (This is just a CRASH REPORT)
C:\ProgramFiles\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin

OK then, from your search results, I think it can be assumed that your base game location is *slightly* different than the average location, namely C:\Program files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin.
Have you looked into that already ?

Re: Sims 3 keeps crashing. TRIED EVERYTHING
i assumed that it was the file location ut did not copy the .exe and .ddl files as i did not want it to cause any more problems.
after re-reinstalling it seems as if it is ONLY my Monte Vista town that is crashing now. Its is a Sims Store download-I bought the code from a retail store but it is a download not a physical disk that install the game.
Should i go ahead and copy the .exe and .ddl files?? then add them to DEP?
do you think this will correct the issue i am experiencing with Monte Vista??
Thanks for all the help,
Much Appreciated

If THAT location is your base game location, then YES, go ahead, and apply the "Ultimate fix", according to the "must-read guide" I mentioned above. And also the 4 GB patch, of course.

Re: Sims 3 keeps crashing. TRIED EVERYTHING
Hi Carlos,
Ok i will copy those files across, i see the 4GB patch is for 64 Bit systems, i have a 32 Bit, but ill hold thumbs about the Ultimate Fix thanks again for all your help and replies!!!
Much appreciated
//EDIT
Hi Aagain Carlos,
Ok welli did what you suggested, but alas, now it crashes at a different point--- when i exit a household, under "Edit Town" and then it crashes..
i have officially given up on resolving this error. i know myself, i will wind up trying again by uninstalling and reinstalling but i think for now i must just leave it.
One last question, should i change the install location to Program Files x86??
thanks again for all your help and guidance.
Much Appreciated

I'm so sorry for the late reply, but I didn't have much time lately.
OK, the best thing I can suggest is that you - this time - try a proper (!) un-installation of all your stuff. I'd recommend you use the program "Your Un-installer Pro", available from Games4TheWorld here:
http://www.games4theworld.org/downloads.html
Install the program and run it. In the main window that shows up, double-click on each game, and then choose "Super Mode", each time too. After you un-installed everything that way, re-boot the computer. It's really important to re-boot, after un-installing everything.
Then continue with re-installing the games. This time, yes, you may choose Program files(x86), but technically, the location shouldn't matter. I've seen many people even installing the games on external hard-drives, which is possible too. But yes, out fo ease, choose Program files(x86) this time.
Good luck !

Thanks for the reply, i will proceed as instructed. Quick question..i found this link with "Install Order", should i install in this order---in the (x86) file--- but actually patch the game via the launcher before using the Manual Patch and Ultimate Fix??
Thanks for your help!

Hey *Tami* again,
If you install the games, there will be a "default install location" in your installer, typically in your Program files(x86)-folder. You should not bother with that. It will install automatically in the Program files(x86)-location; and don't do anything with that.
Also, there is NO installation order for expansions in The Sims 3 - this is what you would call a "modern myth". Just follow ONLY this guide here all the time:
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly
Good luck !
P.S. if you want, try catching me again on the chatbox sometime, so that I may help you with TeamViewer if needed. Read up on the TeamViewer information here:
http://www.games4theworld.org/contact.html
Only if you agree on such a "TeamViewer"-session of course.
