Downloads slow to a crawl

Hello. Recently I had a problem that I could only fix by wiping my system clean. Had to reinstall everything, including The Sims 3 and the expansions. Getting through that took a little bit of time but nevertheless I was able to get the important programs and the game back. I paid a visit to this site to do some collecting before tackling mods, but the downloads are incredibly slow. So slow that even after an hour they aren't even halfway done. I called my service provider and did some tests with them, but everything looks good on my end. Is there a problem with your server? If so, any chance of that problem being cleared up anytime soon?
