Origin now tracks? [CLOSED]
Hey, apparently, now origin tracks your info. and stuff and can reveal it to law enforcement agencies, is there any risk of a download from say here or anywhere else that can be revealed via origin? Also, do you need origin to update the sims 3?

Hello,
I don't think you're at risk. You can always turn off logging, if that makes you feel safer. You need Origin to update the game, but not to run it, so you don't have to allow it to start when you start your game.

Hi, do you need Origin even if you download your patches manually from another site and apply them yourself?
In other words can you apply a patch manually without Origin.
Thanks for any help.

I'm not sure, but I think you can do without Origin if you patch manually.

Hello,
No, for manual updates you do not need the Origin launcher.
Besides, IF they want to track you, there are hundreds of ways to do so. Though I don't think the law would give them the permission to collect data without the knowledge of an user. Doesn't matter what it is about, they have to get permission from the user first.

Re: Origin now tracks? [CLOSED]
It's in their EULA which says that they can turn information over to law enforcement in rare cases where necessary and it says they can collect any information off of your game including usage and successful installations, etc. are you SURE there's no increased risk? Do you use origin yourself?? Also, there's a site called sims programs that has all the latest updates, I would post the link, but apparently, I'm too new of a member...

Hello,
I have Origin installed, but never use it.
They can collect information yes, the "logging" option in game in checked by default, but you can simply uncheck it. Its under general options if I'm not mistaken. But if it makes you feel safer you can simply uninstall Origin.

Well, I've never heard someone getting busted for playing a non-legal The Sims 3... since almost everyone uses it, lol.
Yes ah, if you feel safer, just uninstall Origin. You don't need it anyway. (Unless you want to update, but for that you could use a manual patch)
For now, topic closed.
