Getting a downloaded Sims3Pack file to work on a paid version of the Sims? [SOLVED]

Hey, brand new here, so sorry if this is a dumb question. After a forum search and looking through the guides on the website, I couldn't find an answer, so I'd appreciate your help and your patience.

So I have a paid-for version of the Sims 3 + expansions, and in the past have always paid to download stuff off of the Sims Store. I really wanted RenaissanceVenue_SET, but was not willing to pay EA $20 for it, so I downloaded the file found on games4theworlddownloads, as well as the latest "store fixes" files. I followed all instructions for the store fixes files, but there was no instructions for the Sims3Pack file for the renaissance venue. I put the Sims3Pack files with all the other Sims3Pack files in the downloads folder, because that is what made sense to me.

But it doesn't show up anywhere in the launcher or the game after I did this. Are there other steps I'm supposed to take to make this work? Do I need to be running a pirated version of the game to use those files?

At this point, I can only suspect why this is happening for you, but let's see. Before I go into more detailed explanations, can you try downloading (and installing) the .sims3pack file from the link below ?

That one is technically "different" than the version you originally downloaded from the site, but the actual content is still the same (namely the Renaissance venue).

The file you linked did not work, but then I redownloaded the original file and tried again, it did work...
Odd.

Anyways, problem solved. Thanks for your help!

The link that I posted was for an "unmodified" item; the same would get when you actually bought this thing. Whereas the item you originally downloaded is modified for the purpose of using it in especially pirated Sims 3 versions.

I thought that using an "original" item may be the cause here, but it seems it wasn't. Good to know - thanks for your feedback. Smile
