Can I use the paid version?

I already bought the Sims 4; just the base game. I've tried to get the expansion packs but to no avail. Can I even get them with the paid version? Or do I have to install the one included? Additionally, I've only installed Get to Work, but it hasn't worked. Do I have to install all of them to work? Sorry I'm kind of a noob and just want to play the game. Any help is welcome! Thanks!

Although it's not advisable, you can use G4TW downloads on top of your bought base game.
Bear in mind that doing that you must never, ever, update via Origin.
Better is to keep bought and pirated games apart in different directories.
You can then use your bought base game to access the Gallery.
